So I've started to see this issue with my 21GT, where it complains that the Key is Missing after starting the car. I have the key fob in my backpack sitting on the passenger side floor. It allows me to drive it and doesn't repeat. I've already replaced the key fob battery...any ideas?

Are you using the main key fob or possibly the secondary? Was the battery replaced in both?

The main one...my wife has the other one. I've gotten the error leaving work also, so definitely not from the other fob.

I had that problem with my 2016, even after I changed the battery. Called the dealer and they said to bring it in and they’d look at it and run a diagnostic on it if needed. Ended up being a bad battery even though it was new. Make sure it’s making good contact in the fob too. I’ve heard they can be finicky that way too

Bad car battery or fob battery? I could try to replace it again to see if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Fob battery. The car battery was all good but it might worth having your car battery tested too

Before heading for the dealership, Try putting the fob in either your right pocket or the cup holder.

These things are a little finicky about key location. With my fob in my right pocket, and me sitting in the passenger seat, my 21 won't crank (letting friend drive). Anti carjacking?

Since new on my '19 and then my '20 I would occasionally get this error when wearing a winter coat with the keys in it.

Car would start, but once I started moving it would pop that error up. Never had any issues otherwise though. Been going on for about 4 years now.

That’s interesting. I’ve never been a passenger in either of my Mustangs so I never tested that theory. Thats actually a pretty good system if it’s that sensitive to fob location

Thanks guys, just wanted to verify if this was a common thing or if it's something I should have the dealer look at. You guys

My car does that too, recently, but sporadic.
