Ford might keep the Cyclone V-6 in the line-up just because the new Camaro will have three engine choices. And it might be kept just to be the lowest cost Mustang variant. It's amusing to me to hear Mustang aficionados proclaiming the upcoming dropping of the Cyclone engine from the Mustang offering. It's further amusing that the people on these threads that forecast the V-6 demise are the owners of the V-8s and the Ecos...haven't heard any complaints or such forecasts from V-6 Mustangers. Could it be that these Cyclone Mustangers are pleased with their purchases?
I'd like to see it around. But I really think it'll be a numbers game. If it can hold its own, it'll stick around for awhile. I'll admit, I haven't had any of the problems other engine-owners have noticed. Things such as cabin squeaks, panel misalignments, glass issues, paint issues, etc. Not sure my luck has anything to do with the engine, but 9 months in and I'm still happy as a clam.

It's a total redesign with the new Camaro which is why I don't understand why they didn't go for a newer, fresher look. I know from what I see, most people won't notice much change or any for that matter.

Dave Pericak himself said the V6 was added to production at the last minute and they originally only planned to offer the EB and GT. They added it to be a cost leader. I highly doubt it will be seeing many if any upgrades before it's time is up

With 17% of Mustang sales attributed to the Cyclone engine, it's not likely that Ford would phase it out anytime soon. This engine is being used in other Ford and Lincoln vehicles, and besides, it has been a favorite of car rental fleets. You might be right about Ford not providing any upgrades to this engine platform. But it's a fine efficient engine that excels in it's simplicity. I believe Ford will continue to produce Mustangs with Cyclones for at least the next few years. Profits drive these decisions...always have, always will.:eyebulge:

It looks more like a mid gen refresh than a new generation. With the current gen long in the tooth and fading, I think this new one is a mistake. I don't see much difference looks wise at all, and what changed is for the worse. Will be interesting to see the results in sales.
