My dealer just told me that he received info that the Job 1 date is expected to be July 14th with a release in September. That would be nice if true.

We keep hearing about 'Fall' delivery, and Fall starts on September 22nd in the US, so if they actually do hit that mark, it will definitely be a pleasant surprise. They could easily push it out a couple more months beyond that and still meet their promised time window. Here's hoping your dealer is right!

Well recently Brian and some others confirmed that the order date was pushed from May 11 to May 20. I would assume this is because of a slight production delay, unless it has to do more with the order guides being readied or some other issue not related to production. If that's the case, I would expect that the Aug 11th production date (here) would either remain the same or be later, not earlier.

Just passing what I was told. He said the Ford rep will have more info next week so we shall see. Launching a new sports car into late fall / winter is not a good marketing concept.

Generally I agree, but demand for this car is going to be ridiculous no matter what. They'll sell every one they make at first...

Yeah, I don't expect much wheeling and dealing in the first few months... at least up to Christmas.

I dont think the demand is going to be that crazy... sure there will alot of interest immediately but it should settle fairly quickly. its an awesome car no doubt but due to Fords marketing i think there are going to be alot of orders that go in in the may/june/july timeframe so ford will have a really good idea of just how many need to be built for early adopters... there are few volume produced vehicles anymore that demand outstrips supply...

recent memory is the BRZ/FRS twins which was because they significantly underplanned demand
perhaps you can count the new stingray but i wouldn't really classify that with the mustang because the volumes and customer are so different
Its not like a new BMW M car where the gotta have it but cant get one hype benefits as much, ford wants to continue and grow a sustainable volume model... best thing for that is boots.. err tires on the ground, in parking lots, office complexes, highways

We'll see I guess. Short of rushing it out the door (too soon), the only other alternative was for Ford to wait until next spring. Anyone on board with that? ;)

I'm wondering how long into the production the limited editions will be made?

In a couple interviews with Ford execs they said they'd be some of the first ones built.

Yeah that's the release I got from the dealership said also.

Biggest problem is patience isn't one of my strong points and now that means about 4 things I'm waiting on right now that will be 6 months out.

I don't know if the Canada LE's are on a different schedule (doubt it) but the dealer notice announcing the numbers for Canada and guidelines for allocation said that "production is expected in Q4 October/November". Seems a little late considering all of the Job 1 info out there including this threads info.

I've always heard that sports cars sell best in the spring. I still havent figured out why Ford chose to release in the fall.

Is there a date that you must go past to call it a 2015 when its released in 2014?

2015 model year vehicles can be sold starting January 2, 2014.
