I think it's safe to say the Mustang is going to retain it's sales crown for the 6th Generation of both cars.

When I was looking to buy my car, Camaro SS were 55k+ while even loaded 5.0 were barely scraping 40k. I don't care how good it is, I'm not paying corvette money for one.

I watched Randy Pobst lap in the V6 1LE and I couldn't see the track surface! I don't know whether he's a short guy or not, but the visibility sure looked terrible to me. I will be interested to drive a new Camaro next summer to see what they are like. It looks like it should be easy to find one on a dealer lot!

Finding a 2016/2017 Camaro? Yes easy.

Finding a V6 or SS 1LE on the lots? Probably less easy..it's not exactly an option the general public knows about or even will want.

Not bad. Just imagine what an ass kicking it'll be next fall when the 18 Comes out. Sales for Mustangs will pick up again and Camaro sales will just keep dropping. I didn't expect to see a great month for sale with all the political crap. But damn 3500ish. Time for a 20 percent off sale again.........For all of 2017!

Ya. I imagine that small gap of performance the SS has over the GT right now will pretty much be at least of equal performance with the 18' model, so similar performance engine/handling and the Mustang will still retain the cleaner interior, better visibility, better space, better bodylines and probably still have competitive pricing there will be no reason for cross shoppers to buy a Camaro just because it's better on paper.

I bet the difference is sales to the female gender. Most are shorter than men and would have trouble seeing over the lock buttons on the doors. If I see a woman driving a camaro, it is because she is a fan-girl, or plays basketball at a D1 level.
I never thought about this but it makes a lot of sense. I'm 5'9 and even I have to put the seat up in a Camaro pretty high in order to have decent visibility. And come to think of it, of all the 2016 Camaros I've seen, none were driven by women.

Regardless of the cause, they need to stop production for a month or two and do an emergency refresh for MY2018. At the rate they're going they already have nearly enough inventory to last all of 2017. Even if it's just putting some slightly more aggressive bumpers and tail lights on it I think would go a long way to helping it. But regardless, there's no fixing the visibility. Even if they lowered the hood the windows are just too small.

Not counting manufacturer deals, the sticker on a V8 SS1 is over $38K.
About $8K more than a base GT.

No wonder they can't sell them.

37,900 with destination for a 2017 1SS

34,095 for a 2017 base GT.

$3,805 difference, not $8,000.

Chevy dealers must have been cutting some tremendous deals at the end of the year because the sales increased. Maybe everybody is waiting for the end of 2017 to buy a Camaro.

Good news for me in the UK as it means my estimated 10 month wait for the 2017 Mustang has been reduced to 8 months!

Well wander how higher priced bigger profits is working now for the "super car" All the huge discounts can't help the floundering camaro sales turkey. This goes to show that 99% of the people buying pony cars aren't buying them to race so a slight advantage in performance means nothing. I hope this is the nail in camaros coffin and soon well see 2002 again leaving Mustang the sole pony car. :ford:
