How much does BMR jacking Rails Weigh?
They are approx 21-22lbs total weight.

They are heavier than the competition because they feature much, much much more jacking area - AND have pads specifically designed and engineered to put jack stands to on all 4-corners.

Can you post a pic of the vert bracing? A close up of the area you are referring to?

I know what it looks like. And I know our "Boxes" will not fit "in" them, as you are speaking of, without major modification.

However, if you will post a pic I can brainstorm. ;)
Kelly,
I know it is a loooong shot, but any storms in your brain about modding your rail for the convertible?
Thanks

Built my own out of some galvanized unistrut and some 3/8" plate. I have welding ability though. Cost next to nothing and mine tuck up perfectly and the 3/8" plate provide a great lift point and is the only thing you can see from the bottom of the car. Coated them with some paint and all is well. They even work with the Steeda rear subframe brace and actually engages those bolts as well.

Post some pics of them installed, esp. at rear mount. Any pics of the raw material would be good to see too. :)

Is your jacking surface as long as the BMR or shorter like Steeda rails?
Thanks

Mine are long. I even thought about building a plate to bolt into the front subframe as well.

Kind of tie the front and rear together.

Didn't though but they work great for jacking rails.

I've got Steeda jacking rails, very similar in design to the BMR (which I'm sure are also awesome), but I think ~5lbs lighter (not like you'd notice that anyway...), and were cheaper than the BMR units when I got them. Either way, I think you can't go wrong - easiest install of any part you can get for the car, and tremendously useful and improved safety when working on it.

For the guys who want to make their own, I think we should admire and respect that too... One-off fabrication is time and skill-intensive, and some people have both the time and skill, and think it's fun. I don't, so I go looking for the best value parts available on the market. There's no right or wrong, and even if a guy damages his own car by making a mistake in design or execution....well, that's his problem.

Here is a great video Latemodel Resto did on ours.

[ame]

Notice how the center main tubes are "twisted" in relation to the end boxes. This is because the chassis/mounts are at an angle on the chassis of the car. When you install our Jacking Rails, the center boxed tubing is flat in relation to the ground, not angled. ;)

Attention to detail FTW.

Thanks!

No one made something for my application. I wanted rails that fit the Steeda rear IRS brace and tucked up into the frame.

It was just a decision based off of need and ability. I waited for a non-sponsor thread so I could even talk about mine cause I did not want to step on toes.

Good point made on the re-clocked rails for the BMR unit, so they are level. My Steeda's are definitely canted inward, which you can see clearly in my pic. Superior design goes to BMR, but that being said, my car was stable as could be with jackstands under my units. I tried really hard to push the car laterally, and couldn't make it budge, settle, or anything - I'm an athletic 220lbs, so it's not like a 90lb chick saying that... ;)

My jackstands have a profile like this pic, so if you intend to set the rails on a flat surface, it may become more important.

Not having an off the shelf fit for my convertible is why I'd love to see some detail pics of your DIY rails.
