I've read quite a few threads in this section and the GT350 section regarding the stock OPG (as well as separate threads in this section regarding some premature failures).

My questions are:

1) Is the stock OPG a genuine concern on a GT that would be daily driven with practically no track use?

2) Is the OPG a concern more so on the earlier produced GTs over later (i.e.: 2015 vs 2016 vs 2017)?

If there is a thread that already addresses the questions, please feel free to direct me to it - thanks!

nah don't worry about it. its more of a concern for boosted cars revving over 7500rpm

On a stock, or mostly stock car with stock RPM, you're fine. If you're revving over 7,500RPM or making significantly more power than stock, then you need to worry.

So even if using a gt350 inlet manifold normally aspirated and upping the limit to 7500 do you think the stock opg is ok for a daily driver or should I be thinking about an upgraded opg (very rarely revving that high but seeing 6k plus on a blast)

Just like everyone else said, boosted high revving applications, it would be a good piece of mind upgrading the OPG and sprocket. There are plenty of people out there that are still 100% stock engine with no failures. Like our 850rwhp GT was 100% stock engine and our OPG and sprocket never failed.

I just spent a lot of time looking into this issue as I want to tune (usually they bump the limiter up to 7400ish) and it seems from what I found N/A cars seem to be okay. There is a lot of conflicting information out there to say the least. Anything above 7k is bad, boosted, 450whp, cams, etc....

Though I did feel good enough to get a ngauge and tune today. I want to get a CJ manifold and maybe some other NA goodies down the road and would prob add the OPG in anyways.

Have tuned various cars that rev up to 7800rpm on stock OPG and CSS with out any issues. Don't bounce off the limiter and the gears will live a long time. My personal car has been revved to 8k rpm almost daily for over a year now...still on stock OPGs and CSS

Stock opg here, rev to 8k 4-5 days a week for more than a year. Still have boundary opg in the box, and some other various front engine parts, just collecting them to eventually do the front of the motor before going boosted. Too many toys and too little time.

It was determined that our OPG's are the same as the ones in the Voodoo, which as you know revs to 8,250. I wouldn't worry about the PP3 and it's 7500 redline, but boosted would be a different story.

Same gear that is in the very vibrating voodoo that revs to the moon.

And the Voodoo engines are dropping like flies from broken OPGs. Completely stock cars.

Links/posts for all these dropped flies? I just tried to search and found 2, ever.

Yeah "dropping like flies" is hugely dramatic. The main issue that the GT350's are having are related to the oil cooler lines, not the OPG.
