Is rear bumber allignment something we can do?

The drivers side of my rear bumper is out about 3/8 of an inch and you can see 3 tabs...
Is this something we can fix with normal tools and being of above average mechanically inclined or do we need to go to the dealer.

You can do yourself, it's not that difficult. Look for the DIY on one of CJponyparts videos. If you had the dealer do it, they'd probably make it even worse and then use some ghetto way to "fix" their mistake.

Link to where this was discussed. I've taken the bumper off and it's a pretty tight fit to button up the top tabs and secure your bumper, although, I really do think our bumpers are pretty damn heavy and will just end up breaking the tabs. You can take your bumper off and look at it. Let me know if you find something I didn't. Any help is appreciated. Last few posts on that thread are about possible glue fixes and what not.

Don't be afraid to DIY this, just go slow and be careful. Let us know if you decide to take it off and have a look, maybe a fresh pair of eyes are needed.

Thanks all...after watching the video and about 1.5 hours, I was able to get it a little better...There is a plastic support that has a numbed area right in the corner where the panels begin. The round receiving part of the bumper was not mated with it...I was able to join them the best I could but there is some interference due to how the support plastic was made. Hopefully it doesn't pop out....

extremely easy! It will probably involve adjusting of every plastic bracket to get a close fit. I have done mine and a friends and I can say that one side will be off just a little.

I see video from the factory that my rear bumper is off. I thought it would be. Its maybe 1/8 or 3/16 gap in the back. The lighter colors magnify the error. I am thinking about taping it off then using white gloss silicone and filing in the gap and pulling off the tape. Let dry and call it a day. Haha!

Lol mix in some touch up paint with your silicone and the gap will disappear !

I also have a gap I was thinking of addressing. I took the rear tail light out to look at the bumper attachment and there is a ton of slop in the clips. Looks as though if you adjust the bracket to much it will probably throw the rest of the bumper out of alignment. Seems like the best way to address it may be a super strong adhesive but I hate the idea of doing that. The seriously dropped the ball in the bumper cover design.

Haha!! If i had a color other than white i'd do it. I'll just do the white silicone and call it good. It will easily pull off too which is good. Either that or i'll just tape it off and put a tiny touch up brush with flat black acrylic so i dont need to see the tabs, at least!

I'd actually like to see a picture of the brackets the tabs fit in. Any slop in the tab and the bracket? Anyway to shim the tab or move the bracket? From the way it looks in pics, mine as well as others, that the radius that meet the quarter and bumper don't match properly, unless something actually pulls it down closer to the top.

I'll try to get some pics tonight . It's a really bad design. I think it would be hard to shim would have to move the whole bracket.

The zip ties statement is actually a good thought. You could just drill a small hole in the sheet metal behind the rear lamp and use it as an anchor point with a zip tie through it to pull the bumper up. That would potentially work pretty well.

On my gt500, the front bumper and quarter panels were'nt perfectly aligned. Had dealer pull off bumper and they couldnt fix. I used some clear packing tape in the wheel well to pull them in. Worked perfect...and invisible...never moved again.
