Now what a stupid answer that is
So you after maybe driving for a few hours on boring motorway, you suddenly have to slam on the brakes, be as fast as a computer if you have to suddenly slow down?
i somehow doubt it
What makes you right and thousands of other people wrong? who are you to decide its "pure laziness"
But as a human, you can think. The computer is programmed like "Accident Imminent = Brakes Applied". Just slamming on your brakes is not always the best option.

I like being in control of my vehicle. I'm not a lemming that just follows the car in front of me.

It's lazy because you can do it by yourself just fine while maintaining control.

It is not worth it if you have to buy all kinds of other damn packages just to have it, but it is really, really nice to have. I don't have it in my Mustang but I had it in the lemon MB I had before this and it was awesome to just basically set it and drive - pedal work eliminated.

Will you accept "pure unwillingness"?

You aren't supposed to have to "suddenly slam on the brakes" if you're paying attention and allowing yourself adequate distance for you - which might be more or less distance for you than it is for me or anybody else.

Cruise control in any guise works against the driver paying attention - it's unfortunately natural to relax a little too much or do too many other things when the driving workload is relaxed. Can you say "boredom"?

If you have to stop with extreme urgency without ACC or any other help . . . can you? Can you do so without feeling a sense of panic? If not, why not? Here's a little tip - given a lack of traffic behind you, try stopping as hard as you can without getting the ABS interested. Do this on a regular basis to "stay current", and a hard stop "for real" will be just another stop that day.

I don't know about anybody else, but after 2 or 3 hours I'm ready for my own "pit stop". Which refreshes me for another stint behind the wheel.

Seriously, driving can be as boring as you care to make it . . . or as interesting. I'd much rather enjoy the drive, and ceding control to computers programmed by somebody who probably doesn't use the car's controls in quite the same way that I do doesn't fit that.

Worth noting that if you run a radar detector you should not select this option.

ACC radar works on the 77 GHz frequency which is far higher than X, K, or Ka band used by police radar and thus detected by radar detectors.

On the other hand, BLIS works on K-band (24.050-24.250 GHz) but is very low powered and pointing away from radar detector on your windshield. It is still possible to get a false K-band alert form your radar detector from this. My Escort Max 2 falses on 24.221 GHz (same frequency every time) when I'm in the garage due to the signal bouncing off the walls and also sometimes when stopped in heavy traffic. Going down the highway or interstate is no problem with BLIS.
