Was under my car locating the bolts for my jacking rail install before they arrive and noticed this ripple in the pinch weld only on the driver side. To me it doesn’t look like any damage I’ve ever seen (car also is used but only has 4,600 miles), and rather a factory quirk as the paints in tact, and there’s factory paint between the slight ripple (circled in pink). The black spot circled in blue is tar or something, not chipped paint. The ripples also seem to extend all the way vertically up the pinch weld which isn’t characteristic of damage from what I’ve seen. Wondering if anybody else’s car is like this? Just found this interesting and wanted to share! Ford tough!!

Is that a jacking lift point or close to it?

So I ended up talking to a few people about this and showing them pictures, (some mechanics and an appraiser for a body shop I know in real life) and everybody says it’s normal on these cars. Since I didn’t get any answers here I asked the GT500 forum, and their staff members chimed in and came to the conclusion it’s nothing to worry about, one even contacted someone they know at Ford. That being said tomorrow just to be safe, I’m bringing it into my local dealer to have the service manager @MAGS1 has recommended a few times take a look at it in person. Again, I’m sure it’s nothing worry about, but I’m the type who likes several eyes to look at things.

Appears to be pretty normal. If I get a chance today I’ll look at mine to confirm. Vito will take good care of you and will let you know too.

Did you buy your car new?

Could be the previous owner (or a mechanic) used the wrong jack point once or twice.

You need to just skip the service manager and trade that monstrosity in! A flaw like that could be a major risk to life and limb! It's probably too unsafe to drive there even. Better call for a flatbed! I just hope they don't try to take too much advantage of you on the trade-in price because of that. 👹🤡🥵🤯🙈🙉🙊

I bought it used 4,400 miles, and originally that was my thought, but after taking some better photos in the day light the next day and my discussions I realized it’s likely just from the heat and placement of the plug welds. You can actually see that the area sits right between them on the attached photos. I just had freaked myself out with my original photos looking for the jacking rail bolts as they’re really up close. Just figured I’d have the dealer take a look while it’s in for its first service under me!

Carfax flagged it as a total loss due to excessive weld confidence. It’ll be on copart later if you’re looking for a part out. 😂

Talked to Vito, showed him my pics and he said nothing to worry about! Also got to see a lot of pics and videos of his cars, which are seriously crazy!
