Hi,

Not much point in quoting figures as they are very individual but percentage wise, are you all seeing a considerable jump in your premium ?

I've had no changes to the policy or my circumstances, and in the time I have owned the car (2020) the renewals have gone up :

  • 2021 = 1%
  • 2022 = 1.75%
  • 2023 = 14%

They (A-Plan) were very apologetic and had all the typical explanations lined up, they also managed to reduce the increase to 5.5% after I reduced the annual mileage (it was well overstated in the past). They did also mention that the next best quote they had had was more than double my current premium

Just wondered if others have seen the same, or if I was being penalised for some other reason that's out of my control - postcode, the amount of stangs that seem to be getting involved in 'incidents' recently ... ?

Cheers,

Did you speak to A-Plan directly or via a broker?

It’s always been direct and with someone from the U.K. - it was even the same lady the first few times :like:

Very old school in that respect - nice polite phone conversations (no online automated system) followed up by real paper correspondence that someone actually posts through your letterbox :giggle:

Yeah defo ring them - they have been really good with me (especially on my first year with them) and I’ve been fully covered since day one for inlet, exhaust and suspension mods :like:

I had a deal with a-plan but the actual company they went with stipulated garaged at all times and no exceptions unless by prior agreement which tbh wasn't suitable for me. Whe I did speak to a-plan it was always a very helpful person on the line so pretty easy to deal with in that respect

Just off the phone with A-plan Thatcham. They are unable to give me a quote because I park the car in a risky postcode. I'll read that to mean London. I explained that I park the car in professional secure car storage next to Bugatti's and Rolls Royces. The place is covered in CCTV and alarms. Computer said no, they cannot provide me with any quote. F-me.

Brentacre and Adrian Flux are the other two I'd try along with A-Plan. A-Plan have been having a tougher time getting good quotes together this year from what I've read.

Just a datapoint. My USAA auto renewal notice did not change for 6 months starting early next month. And FWIW, adding a Tesla today is bumping it $69/month. And since relevant, the Tesla is the 2nd vehicle on the USAA policy so no multi-vehicle discount previously.

My car insurance has gone down -0.18% this year. I guess the reason for the tiny decrease and not an increase is 1) I'm having the car insured for a value -10% lower and 2) I went from having zero no-claim years to now having my first.

I receive my renewal notice today. It was £513 last year and the renewal jumped to £911. To say I'm not very pleased would be a definite understatement. Anyway, I went through the routine of online quotes from various comparison websites etc and the cheapest I could find was £950 give or take. I then phoned my current insurers - Liverpool victoria - and miraculously 🤨 they managed to reduce it to £725. Still annoyed but what can you do ?

Just had a renewal notice from Aplan, or as they are now, Howdens and it's £889......... but thats for the Mustang with mods, my Passat estate bluemotion and a new GR Yaris all fully comp with £300 excess.

I'm waiting for a breakdown on the cost of each car.. it looks like the Mustang could be cheapest?

so went through the renewal pain myself, got ahead of the game and got quotes in 20 odd days in advance of cover being needed. Aye, renewing with admiral still increased it by near 40percent and a few other places where ish close but had stipulations that were a little on the strict side so just stayed put. SIgh
