You got lucky getting your states DOT to pay for rias damage to your car. My grandson blew a tire and cracked a rim hitting a pothole in the road and the city told us that they are not responsible for damage as a result of poor road surfaces, even a lawyer we consulted told us the same story. Perfect example of our tax dollars not at work for our benefit. But VDoT did pay me the $1400 to replace the RR shock and alignment after I hit a trench left by a road crew. Talk about gov't "efficiency". First DoT had to confirm site, then pass it on to the General Contractor to look into, who then passed it onto the sub-contractor who was the one digging the hole. Took a little less than a month. Still, why does the consumer have to deal with multiple fingers in the pie and chase the bouncing ball? How about pay me from VA Treasury and then you bureaucrats can play pin-it-on-the-sub footsie at your leisure.
