Has anyone changed out the gear set in their GT's. I know in the past to re-calibrate the speedometer it was nothing more than changing the end user parameters in my SCT hand held. Is that still the same case with the S550?

We're installing some FRPP gears on Monday. You currently don't have the ability to re-calibrate the car for the gear change with the current device offerings from SCT or Diablosport.

The reason why is because there is a separate body control module that needs to be flashed other than the regular PCM in order to properly calibrate the car for the new gears. No device at this time has the ability to do that however we're working on a fix.

We'll definitely keep you posted on how the install and recalibration goes next week.

If you have any other questions in the meantime please let me know.

Thanks, Jared

Good question, we've been working hard over here at Steeda and we now have the ability to change out your S550's gear set and calibrate the speedometer via SCT tuning! The Ford Racing gears went in great and the car has great drivability post-re-calibration.

A few customers have already booked appointments, so feel free to give us a call if you're local to the south Florida area :)

That's cool, I heard the same thing that it had a different control module. Just a matter of time before everyone will have the cal to do it..

I really want to change my gears from the stock 3.31 gear to 3.55 or 3.73, price of gears isn't much of a problem, it's that installation fee, and I don't have the tools to do it myself.

Id like 3.55 also. Any idea what the cost of labor would be for this?

Just remember the 3.15 diff is not compatible with the 3.31, 3.55, or 3.73 gear sets.

Does that mean the 3.15 automatic can't change to anything at all?

If you're not in a hurry...

... get to know your local junk yards. Always road kill - even with "new" cars. With the IRS, you can swap out the entire differential for a more "favorable" one. Have 2 for my '93 T-Bird... one a 3.08 open rear for mileage on the highway, and a 3.55 Torsen for fun. Got it down to about 45 minutes on a set of ramps. Can't say about the 2015 Mustang, as I don't own one yet, but looks like it'll drop right out:

Keep an eye out for a PP total - 3.73's AND a Torsen differential. Just a new Torsen diff is ~$980.00. You may get quite a bargain.

Bummer on the not being able to adjust gear ratio with an SCT like my 2011!

That is all...

Does anyone have any information if the case has to be spread to remove the gears? I am trying to get mine swapped and know a few great shops but have not messed with the 15GT and said some of the rear ends required a case spreader to remove gear.
