BmacIL: I decided to wait on the alignment. This is looking like a trapped inside weekend due to the weather we're about to get in my part of TX. Assuming I have electricity, I could probably get the rest of the mods done. Fingers crossed it all works out well!

Good call in my opinion.

I've watched the CJPP vids for all my mods (if available) tens of times...no exaggeration. When Bill says "This can be tricky" for mere mortals like me, that means "You will throw things in anger and this will take you 2 days." LOL!

The front sway bar merited one of those comments. And I don't have a skilled helper to assist me in feeding the bar through.

I COULD call any number of buddies, but as great as they are, these guys are not mechanically-inclined to say the least...I'm the oddball in the group. Trying to explain "NO...please don't jam the swaybar...yes the round thing you're holding...don't jam the swaybar through because you'll tear off a radiator hose" will result in comments like "Why are you messing with your nice car anyway?" and "Are we done yet? You should do this during the winter...why is the blue one better than the black one, anyway?" /facepalm

So the front sway does have me a bit concerned. I really, really, really should've done the sways when I had the front struts removed...all that extra room. But I ran into some snags w/the camber plates that cost me precious time. Hence why out of the pile of parts I bought, only 30% of them are installed. :frusty:
I did my front sway while the struts were out, so I can't speak to how much more difficult it is with struts in. As you discovered, you may wish to remove one strut if you just can't seem to wiggle it out any other way.

My GF was my helper for this, and there was no issue. You only need a helper on putting in the new one. I recommend taping a rag around the leading end of the bar so that it won't accidently nick/ding the serpentine belt while pushing it in place.

I also found it necessary to completely remove that plastic flap mentioned in the CJ video. Just a couple of plastic rivets - just don't drop them into a black hole.

I did not need any socket u-joint, but I did have to buy a 18mm gearwrench for removing the left-rear bracket bolt via the plastic panel window. I put rag over its end and then tapped it with a hammer to break it loose. If you have an 18mm box end to break it free, all the better, but then the gear wrench really helps. This one of four bracket bolts is under the alternator, so it can't be accessed with long socket extensions. The 18mm gearwrench was useful in many other places.

Thanks for the tips, GTP, especially about the rag around the end of the sway bar. That would SUCK to cut the serpentine belt. I'm going to be extra-careful now. It's also good to know that you mainly need the helper for installing the front bar...my wife can help with that.

I bought a set of ratcheting wrenches specifically for all this suspension work and used 3 different sizes just doing the front struts. Those swaybar links are a PITA.
