IDS and FORSCAN for beginers

I would like to learn these both, but a little tenative.
What is the begining with IDS and FORSCAN for someone to get comfortable with both and use them?

Forscan was scary at first, but after about the 2nd time, it's not that bad. I upgraded from the 4" screen to the 8", and added GPS, all of which requires some Forscan fiddling. After using it a bunch, I started making silly changes, like how many times the turn signals blink when changing lanes.

Be sure to hook your battery up to a charger, though.

I would just dive in and start using Forscan. You're going to quickly find out that most of the people telling you to reference an Excel spreadsheet and arbitrarily alter hex values are "doing it wrong." A lot of the items you'd like to update are actually menu options.

The first thing I would do is go through each module and do a backup of the AS-BUILT data, saving the files for each one on your computer. This will give you a starting point to restore your configurations to factory, if ever needed.

You can start with something simple like altering the Sync 3 bootup animation screen for your first practice session:
APIM -> Splash Screen -> (pick your favorite screen)

I don’t believe you’ll get to learn IDS unless you work for Ford, have a “Ford friend” that works for Ford and will let you in using his/her laptop at the shop, or you have $$$ to purchase the Ford software and equipment to run it…

There’s quite a few very good Forscan threads on here and a lot of Forscan Wizards who can definitely help or walk you through the from and what not to dos…

IDS is out of my list then. Can FORESCAN do all that IDS can do
