So i have been searching around for this answer but have not seen anything definitive.

I was wondering if we are able to use something like forscan to adjust what drive mode or drive settings (TC, Exhaust valves, suspension and steering) the car starts up with?

I know its rather simple to just setup my mode and flick the switch, but would really like to be able to have the settings i set it to every time i get in the car at start up....because I’m a bit lazy LOL

I know it is possible to have the car remember and go to the last mode setting used. It's also possible to have the car start in S+ only every time.
I know this because the SmartTop module I installed on my convertible can do those two things. I have it set to restart on whatever mode was being used last.

How it does it I don't know.

No, the car does not remember the last drive mode. The SmartTop module tells the car with each start to go into S+ mode. Just for this feature the SmartTop module is a bit expensive.

I assume it would be pretty simple to build a module using an Arduino and a CAN bus shield do achieve the same.

Your correct, it's the module that remembers. But really, that's just semantics, the effect sounds a great deal like what the OP wants to accomplish. I suspose if that's all you want it for it is a bit expensive but I wanted the top features it offered and the drive mode thing is just a bonus for me.
My point in posting in the first place was to offer the OP the information that something similar exists. Whether via forscan or some other method what he wants might be possible.

I bought a module for my ex-2018 F-150 Platinum to remember the last mode (out of 5), but don't know if it'd work on the Mustang, which can have 5 or 6, depending if you have set 'MyMode' up or not. That tricky change alone might make it hard for any module to remember it. Curious if the convertible owner above had it or not. At any rate, does anybody know which kind of connector we have for the mode rocker switch? I could tell if it's the same or not, to try one of those modules. The F-150 is an elongated one with 4 terminals in line, but don't know how easy is to get to it in our cars. No way I'd remove the dash just for that.

No. I don't have my mode. But I know some convertibles come with it and SmartTop makes no distinction for trim levels. I suspect that if my mode is selected with the same switch that selects normal, sport+, etc that it would select my mode as well.
I don't know how the module for your f150 worked but mine pops up the mode window in the dash and steps through the modes just like I was flipping the switch until it gets to the last drive mode I used.

The F150 switch is on the shift lever, but it's the same spring-loaded toggle switch, so wondering if the connector is the same. I could try it, but only if it's easy to get to the connector. I can take a picture of the connector, but just by seeing the connector myself, I could tell if it's the same or not. I think the F-150 switch might work, since it's for up to 7 modes, I think. If the connector is the same, I could contact the seller and ask him if he things it might work on the Mustang... but it has to have the same connector to try the same F-150 module.
