LOOOOL!!!!

I've seen 50 degrees above ambient.

It's about how/where you're driving, and the weather. The slower the traffic and sunnier it is, the higher your IATs versus ambient.

I know you don't have an aftermarket intake but still, this very much applies:

Who gives a shit about sitting or creeping IAT's or when you're not on the throttle. If you're on the road course and you IAT's are 140 at 100 MPH, then yes, you have a serious issue.

My IAT usually reads 1-2 cooler than ambient when I'm cruising on the highway. Probably just a calibration issue, but I like to think that the air cools as it flows into the CAI and expands into the greater volume. It's done that ever since I put the Cobb CAI in. Of course it still shoots up 10-20 if I'm stopped in traffic, but after about 5 minutes of normal driving it's down just below ambient again.

I feel better about my jlt open element intake. I see 2-3 above ambient in the winter with almost no rise at stop lights unless I have very extended idle times. Even right now in 115° heat I'm under 5 above ambient and barely rise 12° at stop lights at most.

When it is 102 degrees outside, I'm about at 110-112 in my cPe Icebox with about 5-6 degrees above ambient on the highway. It's tough to get anything considered "cool" in this kind of hot and humid environment stock airbox or aftermarket.

When temps were cooler here in Texas mine was typically 8 degrees above ambient when cruising along. One day when it was 100 degrees out it was showing 127, and that was on the freeway at 70 mph! Since that time it's almost always 20 degrees above ambient if the ambient temp is in the 90s or higher.

I'm a strong average of 10 degrees above ambient. Sometimes 8 and sometimes 12. Stock air box. Nothing like when I had the JLT when I could see 30 to 50 degrees above ambient pending conditions.

Humidity has NO effect on the IAT.
