so we will assume you are depressing the clutch all the way. Put it in 1st, then switch to reverse, does it go in any easier?

Yes, the first time I put it in reverse it’s always harder then when I go into 1st and then reverse

Pretty classic actually. Reverse isn't synchronized like the forward gears so a bit of resistance is somewhat normal. Especially if you try to put in immediately after a stop or if the car is still moving any at all. I go into first then reverse if I get resistance and it does help line up things better... Forward gears, the synchronizers help mesh the gears and stop make smoother...

BUT, if you have severe grinding, it can be a clutch not disengaging all the way. Might have it checked, the hydraulic slave cylinder could have a bit of air and not letting the clutch disengage all the way, or a really worn clutch. Lots of variables really, but if it goes in smoothly coming from a forward gear, and you don't have any shifting issues otherwise I would carry on..

But it doesn’t make the sound if the clutch is pushed in all the way witch I don’t want to ride my clutch, and’s
Wow thank you! That actually rly helps, I’ve very very little amounts of grinding but recently it got bad and my clutch is started to feel very spongy to me so I’ll definitely go get that checked out and probably end up getting a new clutch thanks!!

we don t know how many miles on the clutch and car.
Yea, clutch, then fluids also , both hydraulic and the actual trans fluid.
For now just hit first then reverse.

Car only has 45k miles clutch maybe 30k but It’s also been hammered bc it’s a drag car so I’m assuming the clutch or fluid is the problem gonna bring it to my guy tmr

BTW, you're not riding the clutch if you push it in all the way to engage a gear especially when not moving. (if I understood your statement )

Yeah, depending on the age and mileage, it probably would be good to get checked out. Brake fluid flush should be done every 3 years (which includes clutch on a MT car), air in the line or a failing slave/master cylinder would definitely make the clutch not disengage all the way.. Or the clutch material itself could be suspect.

or operator error if not engaging the clutch enough with the pedal... LOL, Kind of joking as I assume you know what you are doing.
I ve done it myself where I failed to depress the clutch enough, LOL.

Oh no no ik that, I’m say like the only time it doesn’t make the sound is when the clutch is fully in but your also on the gas

I don’t think so I’m 17 and had no one to teach me so I tought myself how to drive manual, when reversing I usually get the clutch in gauged just a bit and kinds flutter the 2 petals is there a better way at doing that?

Well, I was gonna ask if your ex-wife was behind you…but at 17, you better not have one!

that sounds OK BUT you have to have full clutch engagement and in reverse before playing with the loud pedal. Just take a ride with a trusted Manual car guy. It s easier than an internet conversation. If you don t know anyone then go to a local car meet and meet some people. Last choice is a TRUSTED mechanic. If the car has been drag raced hard and long something could be broken or worn FYI. Good luck and keep us posted.
