[MENTION=19800]CSL[/MENTION] - Have you run Oregon Raceway Park in your 350? I definitely lost the bite after the brakes got hot. From all the reviews, I was surprised to experience brake fade.
I have yet to make it out to ORP, but the Ridge and Pacific are faster tracks and more likely to induce brake fade. The fade I have experienced is pretty progressive with heat but consistent, and pedal feel remained constant. I think a lot of people define brake fade differently so that is probably why you hadn't heard much about it. You also have to drive the car hard on a fast track to feel the lack of bite/fade I have experienced. I think there are probably a lot of guys who have not yet found the limit of the stock pads. They are good for what they are and by far the best OEM pad I have experienced thus far.

The holes are not drilled - they are cast at the factory. Their function is for gas escape as the pads bind with the rotors and create them. The veins in the rotors are used for cooling.

The rotors on the GT350 are made by the same manufacturer that Porsche uses and are made in Germany. The cracks that you see are normal and happen on all of my P-cars. My GT3RS has 7k miles and has them as well.

The rotors on the GT350 are made by the same manufacturer that Porsche uses and are made in Germany. The cracks that you see are normal and happen on all of my P-cars. My GT3RS has 7k miles and has them as well.
That's false unfortunately. Modern pads due not create gas under braking anymore.

Drilled, cast hole rotors simply save weight. That is their only benefit to solid 2 piece discs and slotted discs.

Since the holes take away mass from the disc, the disc can take on less heat than a slotted or solid face disc.

If you look at what Brembo and AP use for their race cars they only use slotted patterns that vary from manufacture.

This, holes are Bling/Eye Candy and reduce the life of the rotor with premature cracking. That being said at least Ford isn't holding you hostage with the cost of OEM replacement rotors.

Rears last about 1.5 to 2 times as long to the fronts

Do a little more research on pad technology before you pass judgement and generalize. Most racing pads use a carbon based (phenolic) binding system, hence the release of gasses at high temps. The pads you are referring to are the ceramic resin based street pads and the newer Ferodo DSUNO pads (Ford Mustang GT4 uses them). If Ford spec'd the DSUNO pads from the factory, they would probably just stick to a two-piece rotor with no holes.

The Mustang GT350 and P-cars that come with cross drilled rotors are not for bling - period! They come from the factory with pads that are designed for the track in mind and have different characteristics and application. The GT350 is using Ferodo DS2500 which are carbon based and do emit gas at high temps and my GT3's have Pagid Yellows from the factory. I have used DS2500's, 3000's, all Pagids, as well as AP Racing brake systems on the track.

The P-cars such as my Panamera Turbo does not have cross drilled rotors as the pads are not carbon based and no need for them.

yep..cast...i was going to add this, but wasn't sure about the 350's rotors

I've beat this topic to death myself as I use to run drilled rotors in the past.

The engineers I have spoken to have said that the gas created by even carbon based pads are so minuscule in comparison to what was made in the past.

Drilled rotors are a relic in history that has been maintained due to giving cars the racing look.

The function of even a simple slotted disc that does not have slots go past the edge of the disc is far far greater than drilled, it just doesn't have the bling.

Has anyone investigated running some cooling ducts like on the GT4 cars to help improve pad life?
