Can you also go 295/35/19 on a 19x10 wheel? (Instead of 285/35/19) 😁

Also, is this how you all work out the difference? Example below is a 9.5J to 10J swap.

9.5 inches = 241mm (center 120.5mm)
52.5mm offset

10 inches = 254mm (center 127mm)
35mm offset

=> 127 - 120.5 = wheel is 6.5mm wider
=> 52.5 - 35 = offset is 17.5mm lower
=> 17.5 + 6.5 = 24mm further out?

Sounds to me like you are looking for PP1 wheels, they are 19"x 9 and 19"x 9.5. The offset you listed is off though. The front should be closer to the +24 to +35 range, the rear should be in the +45 to +52 range. As for tire width anything from 265 to 285 will work.

And so 285/35/19 front and rear will not upset the speedo or tolerances moving from a 255/40 and 275/40?
Do the math here. 285 mm * 35% = 99.75 "tall" (3.93" or almost 4" from ground to rim)
275 * 40% = 110 mm tall or 4.33 inches.

I believe the speedo goes off the trans, so the rear would be the factor in the speedo being off. Your rear tire height will now be about 3/8 shorter than stock meaning your speed will appear a slight bit faster than your actual speed. How to determine the speed difference I do not know.

EDIT - this will also increase your gear ration slightly

Basically yea, except the critical width should take into consideration the tire, because often the tire is wider than the wheel.

295/35 would not be my first choice. If you want a 295 tire, a 10.5” wheel would be a better match, but those are rare and tricky to fit with stock suspensions. There are whole articles on the pros and cons of mounting wider or narrower tires on a given wheel, and in the end you don’t get your whole money’s worth for the wider 10mm. Not to mention that beyond 285 it starts getting hard to make a square no-spacer setup work. Rear fender clearance and front strut clearance get tight.

Check out this site; it allows you to compare tires.

There's a general rule of thumb to stay +/- 3% of the diameter/circumference of the original original tire. People can and do deviate from this rule all the time. By staying within 3% you will not have any issues.

Thanks again everyone - yeah I was just curious about the 295 size. Happy to stick with what we worked out earlier on. Been very useful reading all the input. :like: I'm sure I'll be back in a few weeks after forgetting everything. 🤔😂

I'm back! 😂

Could I ask please, would fitting this alloy wheel kit from LMR.com - will it be straight forward (as in the wheels are designed for the Mustang)? They are not going to poke out or foul the suspension, or anything like that? Would be a straight swap around no issues?

I think that going to 20" would work better as there is more tyre choice here, especially for the 11" on the rear. I can get Conti Sport Contact 7's in 285/30/20 for the front and then 305/30/20 for the rear.

I think that should be a good setup for the extra supercharger power!

I put the tyre figures into the tyre calc online and they work out very close to stock. :)

Any problems with this approach / setup? Do 20" wheels work OK on the Mustang?

Thanks.

I run 20x10 square on mine no problem. 285/30r20 has a little smaller sidewall, I run 285/35r20 with no issues at all. It’s a little larger diameter than stock but still within the 3% tolerance.

Thanks that's great to hear. :like: And I'm assuming the offset etc on the wheels in the kit from LMR.com in this example, are all suitable for the car. I can always ask them but I'm sure it will be fine.
