So I have the stock PP wheels on my mustang. I love the style of these wheels. I am thinkin of buying the 10"wide replica rims. My question is first, will I really notice the 1/2" in width that I gain, or is it really not enough? I would rather get 11" wide, but don't want to drop that kind of coin. I'm looking to make that 10" width look as wide as possible. And second, if I get the 10" wheels, can I move my 9.5" stock wheels up to the front to replace the 9" that are there now?

Thanks for any help guys.

1. by width and size info Yes your rear 9.5 wheel can be moved to the front, might want to add a 5mm spacer if you do, the back rep that you will buy in a 10 wide will not really do much for you, what will show a big difference is that the 10 wide wheel will allow for a nice wider tire which will create a better grip on the road, if you plan on not buying a wider tire then maybe dont bother, the whole point is to grave more traction and adding that wider size tire will do the trick.

Just guessing he is wondering if a 1/2" wider rear tire will be all that noticeable as far as grip goes? What's your stance on that? Is a 1" or 1.5" wider tire on the back where you really start to notice a grip improvment, or is .5" totally noticeable?

It blows my mind they haven't come out with an 11" PP replica. If I were to get the 10" and throw a 305 or 315 on it, it would most likely look pretty sick I would think. But then again I don't know much about tires.

If you aren't really wanting to drop a bunch of money, start with trying out a set of Eibach 15-20mm wheel spacers. This gives the car a more aggressive look and appearance of wider tires without spending a ton on money.
Spacers are not a substitute for wheel width for either performance (directly) or for the ability to fit wider tires and whatever additional performance comes with that.

Viewed from anywhere close to straight behind, OE tires on OE rims that are spaced outward still look exactly like . . . OE tires on OE rims.

I kind of agree, I always thought spacers were kind of cheesy, unless using them to clear objects due to odd offsets. But using them to achieve the look of a wider stance/wheel, never looks like it works and ends up looking worse in my opinion. If a 10" wheel had 305's on it, would it in essence look almost as wide as a 11" wheel with a 305 on it?

Maybe. If you do need a thinnish spacer for clearance, make sure that you still have at least one full lug diameter of threads engaged in the lugnuts. If the OE lugs are not at least that long, you'll need to see what ARP has in lugs of the same thread as what your car came with.

You can fit as much as a 305/35 tire on a 10" wide rim, though anything wider than 285/xx on 10" probably won't drive quite as nice as 275/40's on the GT/PP's 9.5" wide wheels. Might ride softer, but feel slightly 'vague' in the corners and turns.

Tag, you're 'it' . . .

A 305 on a 10" wide wheel actually narrows down slightly (to about 295) because 10" is a whole inch narrower than the 305's "measuring width", which is 11". That's section width, measured at the max sidewall width. Tread width may or may not get any narrower, but that's a pretty vague measurement to begin with and actual contact with the ground can vary from there depending on both wheel width and inflation pressure.

Norm's the man. I ran 5/16 spacers on all 4 corners on my Cyclone, it got the attention of one salesman at the dealership who owns a GT/CS. I want to run 285/45/18's. I can only run a 255 on my base GT rims.

Back at you, lol

Sounds like I could learn a lot from you about wheels. Definetly a department I am lacking in, I just know I really want to get a wider stance. Maybe you could put it simple for me, if my tears are 9.5 and I jump to 10", will it not fulfill my want for a nice wide rear tire? I want to get 10" front 11" rear ideally, but buying two new 10" rear replicas was going to be a cheaper alternative in the meantime while I gather the coin to drop on a full set. But if it's going to be a waste of money just jumping up a 1/2" I'll spend the money elsewhere.

I've got 19x9.5 275 40s on all four corners with 1 inch spacers all the way around. Yes from the rear the stance looks the same, but from the side of the car the flush wheels and tires look fantastic. When you can get spacers for less then $200 it just might be worth a try.

On stock pp rims 275/40/19 and 285/35/19 is my current set up on BFG comp2. The less than 1" increase made a huge difference in traction.

There are members that have grabbed the AM rep put it on the back moved the front up used a 5 mm spacer for clearance, transferred the tire to the front also and put a 305 DR on the back.

So in your opinion if I were to do this, do you think it's a noticeable difference only jumping a half inch with a 305 on the rear?
