Was looking on Tire Rack for tires for my non-PP GT (18" wheels) and came across Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS. Was curious about if the 255/45-18 tires would fit. It says it will fit an 8" wheel but the tread width is 9". Wondering if that was a typo or if the large aspect ratio allowed for a more narrow wheel.

Near identical specs as the stock tires, just a bit wider.

In the "specs" area (while looking in the tires details) it should say the recommended wheel width for this tire. Usually gives it in a range (if capable).

I would say it maybe sounds right, maybe. 8 inch might be a tad small, depending on tire specs. My 255/40/19 pirellis (stock p-zeros) say 8.5-10. But I highly doubt that tire would be ok on a 10 inch wide wheel LOL. And the stockers are 8.5.

Stock wheels are 18x8. Tirerack says a 255/45/18 should fit the stock wheels. I've yet to see any pictures of the setup though.

A higher aspect ratio allows for a wider tire on the same width rim.
