Hyperbox vs SCT

Can some vendors / tuners chime in on the issues with the SCT vs Hyperbox?

My base JLT Lund tune via SCT was fine, but when it was updated for my catless long tubes there were issues that I and others encountered. When I switched to the Hyperbox it was a night and day difference for the better.

Jon Lund has indicated this was due to lack of access to certain values/tables via SCT that are not an issue with the Hyperbox. There has also been recent talk that the tunes are 'better' with SCT now...if there isn't access, how are they better? Are the issues just being masked?

Several people have asked me about the differences since I have the Hyperbox and quite frankly, I don't have the knowledge to answer them....with that in mind:

- What are the current limitations with SCT?
- How do these impact tunes?
- Does it impact all tunes/tuners
- Would you advise getting they Hyperbox instead of the SCT? Why or why not?

Perhaps the ones with the Lund tune are the ones that experienced these issues because Lund tunes for "more" than other tuners that just copy and paste cars, so therefore other tuners didn't experience the issues. The issue has been "masked" and it positively impacted the tune. My car runs very strong where before I had issues. Lund knows his shit for sure, that he is able to compensate for something SCT isn't giving access to.

I'm interesting in trying the hyperbox out myself I've had issues with bama and lund both using the SCT unit. Who has it available I may wait until the ngauge comes out to see if there is a difference with it. I've had nothing but he'll outta my SCT.

We've been working on the sct tunes and the latest files do help compensate for the issues. Rest assured Lund is working hard to get the tunes as great as possible

Probably busy updating their software. Anybody who's upgraded tunes over the years knows that SCT is constantly updating firmware even for older tuning devices like the X3. Every time I got a new tune for my 2011 I had to update my SCT before uploading the tune.

I was worried when I ordered my X4, but I am confident SCT will have updates soon to widen their parameters. I Just received my X4 with the Lund tune today from Beefcake and I'm pumped. It's set up for my JLT (which should be in soon) and my cat-back (Corsa), so once everything is in I'll throw the tune on and give my feedback.

I do have to thank Beef again for taking the time to help me. I was nervous about the X4, but I don't think it'll be an issue. He also hooked me up again with a phenomenal deal!

Haven't put the tune in yet- still waiting for my other parts that go with it. Once I do though, I will definitely let you know what I think.

In my experience, 'compensating' for something usually entails giving something up in the process... Not to single you out Beef, but you seem to be the only one even acknowledging there are issues. Bama and the other tuners are completely silent on the SCT issue. Can you address any of the questions?

My take on this is because he will provide multiple solutions. Most of the other guys are single source for the boxes (SCT). Technical information about the "issues" have been sparse, but he is the only vendor I've seen that is willing to comment at all.
