The v8 model isn't going away; as stated here and by Ford themselves, there is no Mustang without a v8 model.

Whether that's coupled with electrics... which I highly doubt, is another thing entirely. Personally, I don't see a hybrid with a manual box, so I'm thinking either by range-extension or a i4/v6 (v6 seems likely given the Lexus and similar models).

The v8 will hang around as a more and more niche model, for WE, the enthusiasts - the money will be made on other models.

Beyond that, I'd be surprised if Europe even gets a sniff of such a car; that said, I'm still surprised we get what we do! ;)
Playing devils advocate...
Agreed hybrid and auto go together hand in hand. Ref new 10 speed box for optimal efficiency at all engine speeds ;)
Maybe I'm a cynic, but:
Ford also said it was commuted to their Mexican plants before the political (and import tax) landscape changed.
Trump said he would make the Mexicans pay for the wall. Before he won.
The Brexit team said the £350m that goes to Europe every day could fund the NHS.
Etc...
are any manufacturers out there really designing clean sheet cars nowadays without a view to the sales environment in 2025? If so they are going to be wiped out of existence pretty quick. Tesla is blazing a trail and all the majors have taken note and are starting to follow. Never mind the V8... the utility charging model will be next!

Quite.

Much of that; well, I didn't believe a word of the "£350million.. NHS" nonsense (because, it wasn't true) and Trump.. well, again, who'd believe he could get the Mexicans to pay for a wall?

Can Ford continue making a v8 Mustang? Yep; as long as the model range can sustain a smaller niche(r) market, why not? Whilst the 'leccy brigade is the niche now, it won't continue to be - hell, I'd buy one if they could come up with some new charging capabilities and disposal that didn't sound like an environmental nightmare.. but we are where we are today.

Your cynicism is well founded. How many times have we been promised a future in any field that hasn't appeared? I think it's why many of us have a v8 Mustang on our driveways today :)

Was going to go that way, just a matter of when. Leaving the environmental part to one side. The performance car market is changing and most people in this sector now just want the fastest accelerating car with minimal effort (hence the rise of autos), and an electrical car with instant torque and no need to change gear suits the market perfectly. The next step is driver-less cars, as using a steering wheel is becoming too arduous for some. Although I'm going to enjoy my V8, stick and steering wheel while I still can - when she eventually arrives!
