I recently had a long layover in San Diego and had the opportunity to ship the Tremec TR3160 GT350 transmission home. Steve16 met me at the airport and we both drove over to the cargo facility and tendered the transmission to be shipped the next day on the flight that I was to fly.
So the next day, it was my turn to fly. I was quick to get to the aircraft and despite the fact that it was my leg, I insisted that I get the walkaround to make sure the transmission was ready to be loaded up. After my walkaround was complete, I had a few extra minutes to check on the package.
And there it was....
I inquired about it with one of the ramp guys and they offered to load it up so that I can take a few pics of it. They pulled up the cart to the belt loader and ran it up the belt.
It arrived safe and sound and this was the last shot of it before I got to see it the next day. It was left in good hands by the cargo professionals.
I picked it up yesterday and the box was exactly as I left it. Not a single hint of any damage, not a scratch. It was helpful that I was part of the shipping process (flew the jet and met the folks who handled the package). I shudder to think of how that package would have been treated by UPS or some ground freight company. Most of the time that I receive something via ground freight, it usually looks beat on.
Anyway, a special thank you to Steve16 for taking the time to strap the box to the pallet and driving out to the airport to drop it off. It was great meeting you. The next time I am in town, I will plan to be a bit more rested and maybe we'll catch up.
