I started drag racing when there was 5 Fords and 150 Chevys and 20 Dodges in the lanes...I'm used to having my back against the wall! At least there is a lot more friendlies out there now...I feel bad for the Dodges, not many left out there.

True. I am not a serious racer. I took my V out a couple times. I hurt more than a few feelings in that car on the streets......in Mexico of course.

Do not feel bad, I haven't been cleared to return to road course events. I haven't raced at an actual event since 2011, Hockenheim, FIA Germany.

I went back to Drag Racing in 2012 and was pretty active until 2014...


I will not be returning to racing of any kind. I also thought Solo/Autocross would have been an easier task too and that is the case I presented to those in control of that...


...I was informed that Solo-type events would put my body through a lot more than I could expect at Hockenheim :(

I tried maybe 3 events... :(

Love these threads, Once actual production 16's Make it into owner's hands the truth will be out there, and I'll get to enjoy re-reading everything again! One side or the other will have enough egg on the face to treat us all to Omelettes for a year!

There's no way a manual or auto Camaro will keep up with our A8 Vette... It shifts way to quick and with the rear mounted tranny it gets traction for days. I walked a guy on a bike the other day with it then he tried to pass me and I blew by him again at 155... On a track of course! It does have the Z51 package though the one tested may have been a base.

I actually never looked at the Corvettes 1/4 times at Motor Trend. Did the Camaro run faster in the 1/4 than the C7 Z51?

Edit: MT's Z51 went 12.2@117mph... The Corvette is faster in every way.

not sure about motor trend but car & driver has the ss 1 second slower than the vette.:tsk:

Unfortunately too many of the Fords are now running LS motors, so can you really call them friendlies?

Yeah, I think it's Auto vs. the Corvettes manual.

Z51 ran a 12.2@117 and the SS ran a 12.3@116 I think.

C&D also dyno'd the automatic and they got 400RWHP. That is harder to achieve than the manuals 405RWHP Motor Trend reported...

Most Auto equipped, front engine, rear drive vehicles with IRS lose 15-18% to the rear wheels...


This is becoming even more incredible than before!!!

The fully loaded 2SS with auto weighed 3760lbs too! Still 50lbs lighter than the ATS-V coupe and ALL of the equipment is shared... plus what the Camaro has that the ATS-V doesn't... including a sunroof :lol:
