I don't notice this but if there's splatter and you rinse after each wheel, it's gone with the rinse.

I do wonder if it's related to the general cleanliness that you guys keep your cars ?

Its likely a (very) different scenario than washing the wifes daily driver over the winter months ... lol

It does rinse off easy though

I only use those bristled brushes when clearance is an issue, as in the Mustang's front rotors and calipers. Otherwise, its either the Detail Factory Wheel Brush or Microfiber Madness IncrediBrush Flat.

I also have both the standard and flat Incredibrush. I use the full one on my vert as well. The flat one is pretty much useless to me now that I have the Barrel Blade which is thinner.
