anyone clean their steering wheels? I'm at 2500 mi and my wheel is no longer as soft as it used to be. I know in due time the it will only get worse unless I clean periodically. I've been to both Autozone and O'Reiley auto stores (in Phoenix) and I couldn't find any interior fabric cleaner.

what are you guys using?

Regular cleaning should be done with warm, clean water and a clean cloth.

Heavier cleaning with a mild detergent, like a water-based interior fabric cleaner, or a diluted Woolite solution (~10:1 water to detergent). SONAX also makes an interior cleaner that they claim is compatible with alcantara, though I have no personal experience with it.

I used Simple Green at 50% solution on my steering wheel. Soaked it well and wicked it dry with paper towels. Looks and feels like new.

The Sonax stuff is amazing. I use to use it on my BMW ZHP alcantara interior. Smells good too.

Same here, Sonax makes a great Alcantara cleaner!

I bought a used GT350 wheel for my 14, it had dirt even matted into it! I got ahold of the SONAX product and it worked wonders! It took me 2 cleanings, but now the wheels feels and looks great

Scrubbing Bubbles....yes, really. My local Ford mechanic got his greasy-ass hands on my red Alcantara and the scrubbing bubbles took it right out.

Apparently you got away with this OK but I would use a lot of caution using something like Simple Green in that concentration. At 100% it will strip paint off some underhood components down to bare metal. I think I would dilute it down a lot further. For me - think I'll go with the specialty Sonax cleaner.

I wouldn't want alcantera if I wore gloves. I only have it for the better feel compared to leather, etc..

Instead of gloves, I just wash my hands if dirty before driving. Maybe people have differing amounts of skin oil but the Boss 302 wheel I put in my 2011 as soon as they were available was just fine when I sold it in 2016.
