I bought a set of Hankook R-S4s directly from Hankook Motorsports and when I checked the date code on them they read 2121. I'm a little bit miffed at the age of tires they sent me. These tires are 3 1/2 years old already. I got a great deal on them which is why I bought them from there, but now I question how good of a deal they really are. I was also considering Conti Extreme Force but then these showed up on a really great deal so I bought them instead.

Is their age a bad thing considering that I will be using these as track tires? Should I have any concerns?

I don't know; I had them shipped directly to the tire shop, they were not when I looked at them later that day. I assume no.

That's probably why you got a good price.

Just send them. It will be fine, I wouldn't worry about them failing or anything on track, just going to have a bit less grip then a fresh set of tires.

But they are more of an endurance 200tw, not the ultra sticky 200 tw, good for 1-2 laps tire in the first place that a RT660, re-71rs, or A052 is, so I suspect they will be what you are looking for.

You'll love the RS4's. I race in a "spec tire" endurance racing league and Hankook RS4 is what we run. For a DOT tire they are very predictable and recover well if you push them too hard. They even do well in the rain. We can sometimes get 2 race weekends (28 to 30 hours) out of one set.
