Uhhghhh. I don't know. How about we just wait for the damn thing to come out and we will know. There are already enough threads with bickering and pure speculations n assumptions as it is for the 18' refresh. All this information will be dropped within the next few months.

Again, I'll ask what is going to be so great about the S650? Yes, I'll take even pure speculation.

It'll have the sweet new 14 speed auto and a TT 5.2FPC with KERS and magnetic dampening under the seats and look just like the GT350.

Oh I forgot to add - all carbon fiber body panels.

S650 is at the minimum 3.5 years away until anyone will be able to get their hands on one.

    Looks are subjective.

With this train of thought, all vehicles are short-lived and you shouldn't buy any of them. Why buy the S650 when a couple of years later there will be a refresh, and then a S750 in 2026.

Buy what you want/can afford. I personally think the new upgrades in the refresh would be hard to pass up. However you can get a better deal on a pre-refresh model.

I tried reading all of this but got stuck on this part in particular... I'm just trying to envision a bag of smashed assholes and form it into the shape of a Mustang. I've heard all sorts of comparisons to what cars can look like. But this is on a whole 'nother level.

I think a lot of people felt the same way though when they first saw the refresh. However it's starting to grow on a lot of people as well including me.

I agree with others wait for performance numbers and then make the decision. However I'm going to call it now the 18 will totally be worth it

The announcement not release. January 2019 auto show we will likely see what the 2020 S650 is; that is 1 year 9 months way from now; about 1.5 years from the 2018 hitting dealership floors.

You make a good financial case for '17.

Will be interesting how many GT350 improvement, if any, they've brought into '18 GT. We've heard magneride option and standard GT350 style flywheel & clutch. But many of the GT350 improvements don't cost more to manufacture. They just required engineering time with different performance goals. So they might be added at no cost. Just like '15-17 engine uses most Boss improvements. I can see (but don't know) '18 heads having GT350 smaller cam base circle, valve train geometry, valve springs & rockers. They require a new casting for DI anyway. This would allow larger stock & aftermarket cams. Improved main bearings, oil pan, windage tray and oil pump from GT350. Revised rear lower control arms with different left vs right wound coil springs. Hood is lower so future GT350 or GT500 wider front fenders might bolt directly to GT. Many other small no cost improvements that I can't remember at the moment.
