I’m not saying you have to go make 1000 wheel horsepower I’m saying that the coyote is very very strong and can handle more than a few passes down the dragstrip At 1000whp if you take the time and do it right. If you have a 1000whp 2018-2020 mustang odds are you can work on your own car and you can afford the $1800 for a new short block A lot sooner than a year
Gen 3 coyote short block is now $1800?
link please .

close but best I have seen is $2k with $500 core charge .
Not a bad price at all especially if you have a core
....but if you can assemble yourself you could put together a better block with upgraded rods/pistons for much less .

Speaking of blocks....

Have you all seen the Preditor block!!!! It only costs $2500, and freaking has the thickest walls I have ever seen, with spray bore liners. With almost a fully closed deck.

This block is a game changer, for the bang for the buck.

reinforcement where it was needed, removed material (lightening) where it wasn't, improved cooling channels, better head studs (deeper and beefier), etc. Everyone will benefit from Ford's commonality of parts and the fact that they're having to deal with high hp and boosted OEM offerings.

I remember back when everything was iron and to buy an aluminum block was a small fortune. Once Ford went to aluminum we all benefit from the availability.

A rising tide lifts all boats.

Hell I remember the days when making 600rwhp was something special and a rarity in a daily driven car that was reliable with its stock long block... especially when word Ford was included in that conversation lol..

I remember in 2001 spending basically my life fortune to make 810 rwhp with my 1997 Cobra. If I could go back, I would tell myself to saveeeeeee my money, and just wait LOL.

OK the price changed a little $1900 no core charge last time I bought one
If you get the F150 short block which I don’t really know what the difference is. it’s $1700
You can buy all the parts and put one together even cheaper

I just built a Gen3 short block with all brand new parts and MPR doing the machine work for 4200.00 . great times we live in. I'm pushing 900whp on my Gen3 running 20psi through my Gen 3 whipple. I know i'm on borrowed time, so I built a short block as a back up.. If I pop the engine, no biggie, I will swap it out over the course of a weekend.

If you're confident in the new build, why wouldn't you swap and sell the OEM stuff (to get a bit of a discount/rebate)?

Rather than wait until the stock block goes, still do the swap and then get virtually nothing for it?

Have you dyno'd? I would think at 20psi you'd be over a 1000

Our 2018 GT went 8.60's at 157mph on the stock motor with just a set of Boundary OPG's and sprocket. The car wasn't put on the dyno the last few times we turned it up but based on the ET and MPH as well as what boost we're running I'd estimate it to be around an 1100rwhp car.

because it's not worth my time at this moment. When your a shop foreman at a Mercedes-benz dealer, working on vehicles becomes more of a chore than for fun. I highly doubt there is a market for used Gen 3 parts.
