how long? - order to VIN assigned

I am sure this topic has been addressed by someone in the past but I have not found it and do not know the answer.

Is there any period of time to normally expect between order date and assignment by Ford (as indicated on "cotus" system) of a VIN number?

My order date was 7 November and I have found no VIN number as of 28 November.

Does the type of car (in my instance an eco , premium, manual transmission, coupe) make a difference to Ford in the assignment of a VIN number after an order number is placed in the "cotus" system?

Thanks. Don't need or want a lecture on how to find or why I can't find this by myself; would prefer a simple answer.

It took almost exactly a month for me from order date to VIN assignment.

I got my VIN from my dealer exactly 7 days after order. But I still don't have a build date.

Try calling your dealer to see if they have the VIN yet.

It was one week for me. I ordered 6 Nov. Mine is an eco premium, manual, PP.

I am going in for an Explorer oil change; will see if I can get any info a VIN that has not yet been posted to my order tracking on "cotus".

It took me 3 months to get a vin and I ordered early July.

I got my vin# one week from order, then three weeks from order processing to in production, next day awaiting shipment, one more to in transit and eight days shipping to dealership. I got lucky and I'm usually the guy who hits a snag somewhere along the way with these things.

To the May orderers (myself including); you can't count the time between
May and 14 July (1st day of production). You can't get a VIN or anything
until Flat Rock starts producing and that didn't happen until 14 Jul and
that was also just for stock.

Call the dealer or find a new one. No reason new orders are getting VINs in a day and you don't have one yet.

This^^^ If I ordered in September and did not have the car by now let alone a VIN I would find a new dealer or search Fords inventory there are a bunch of PP ecoboost on lots

I'm right there with you, I ordered mine on the 11/28 as well. Super anxious to get it. Hopefully the 6-8 week turnaround time the dealer anticipated is true and I'm not one of the unfortunate ones waiting months...

You just never know. My car was ordered on 10/15. It has a VIN, but is still showing as being in Order Processing.

I went ahead and bought a different car off of the dealer lot that was close enough to what I wanted, but I am still tracking the original one out of curiosity.
