No.

But might you have been known as Mike02z28 about 8 - 10 years ago over on Camaroz28.com?

Norm

I wasn't trying to be. However your opinion could misguide others into some false sense of security and do exactly what others have said and what youtube examples play over and over.

One of the first things that they teach over at the track in Tooele is to leave the damn traction control on.

Maybe you shouldn't be an asshole.
The Op asked how to turn off the nannies and I answered the question and you decided to then proceed to say we are going to end up on C&C crash videos. So, who is the asshole?

What does launch control have anything to do with flipping off the nannies? Brake in, hold button until it's off. Launch control has no stake in this procedure.
Because... If LC is on, then some form of TC is on... if TC is fully disabled, then LC doesn't work.

John, first of all, I'm the one who made the comment that you are attributing to Tomster. So if it makes you feel better, I'm the asshole.

I do think you need to lighten up there. We all have our own opinions and people should be able to express them without being called an asshole. Tomster was just following up on my post so be pissed at me.

He was replying to me and I was replying to him.

Your opinion is 'don't drive without the safety nannies'. I think you put too much faith in them.

Fair enough. Who called who an asshole first? That is where I have an issue not with the debate about whether he should or should not turn TC off. I don't put a lot of faith in the nannies but you have to admit that an inexperienced driver can do more damage with TC off. I know the OP is experienced but that was unknown with his initial post.

I'm off my soapbox now.

I prefer to run nannies off. I did it on my 760 hp gt500 and never had a problem. You just can't be an idiot and gas it around any sort of corner or when people are around. It's fun to play when the time is right. I don't mess with the 350 nannies because it isn't really a tire burner anyway and I like the stability control for cornering.

. . . and I like the stability control for cornering.
Try as hard as you can to avoid letting the presence of AdvanceTrak teach you to develop "un-smooth" driving habits.

AndvanceTrac is a good safety feature but it holds back performance and outright speed for experienced drivers.

How about a recap?

Take out fuse 62. That's what I did. Fully disables AdvanceTrac AND Traction Control.

Holding the button/switch down for 5-10 seconds does not fully disable everything.

Be careful. You can easily wind up sideways.
I prefer the car to do what I want when I tell it to. Let's not make this a macho thing. It just takes some brains to do things like not "show off".
Have fun!
Don't be an asshole.

It seems that you took my comments personal and as an attack.
My point is that others (who you have no idea what their experience is) will take your idea to pull the fuse so that they too can tell the car to do what they want when they tell it to. You may know the difference, but as others have stated, what happens when they put their car into someone or something and damage something or kill someone?

I thought my comment "have fun" along with the video would at least illustrate the pitfalls of turning the stability and traction control off.

You came out and rudely accused me of being an asshole because you in your self centered perception thought my comments were an attack on you. If you ever wrap your car around someone or something, the investigation will probably reveal that you pulled the fuse to disable a key safety feature that you feel that you didn't need. The law and a lawyer will clean your clock post incident.

So, who is the asshole?
You ought to take a good hard look at yourself.

I posted why I prefer to have the nannies off and you then posted "have fun" along with a video of people of people crashing and causing bodily harm. Yes, that is why I thought you were an asshole. I think I am done going back and forth with you.

I like both of these posts and how they relate to each other. A good indication that you are learning and doing things right is that the nannies don't intervene.

I think most instructors (and some experienced self aware people) will know when it is ready for a person to turn off the nannies so they don't hold them back.
