I will agree with you that it does leave a residue now I immediately do use my detailer spray shortly after to dilute and remove any R3 residue.R3 works great but I noticed that it made some stains on my PPF if I didn't wipe it off quick enough. On my non PPF areas straight onto the paint, R3 worked better than anything else I've tried.
I have since ceramic coated the entire car and now I don't need any products to remove the rubber. Just some detail spray and a microfiber cloth. If you have PPF, I would suggest either wax it beforehand like @NGOT8R said or ceramic coat the car.
If you already have rubber all over your PPF, use some Isopropyl alcohol to get the rubber off, then go over those areas again with a detail spray right away.
