i had a 2014 with a roush blower approx 575 wheel HP, and a 2019 whipple with 670 Wheel HP. Took both to the drag strip many times. Hard launches and shift. Never an issue with either tranny. Although neither compared to the tremec in my current ride. Maybe i was just lucky.

Unfortunately all these problems swayed me away from the MT-82 and I bought a 10r80. It may be finicky, but it can take some decent abuse. Its a shame ford didn't put the Tremec in all mustangs. It would sell a lot better!

I read a lot about the MT82 taking a shit, but how does this actually happen? I don't ever nls but sometimes I do do aggressive 1-2 2-3 pulls where I'm slamming the clutch and shifter. In daily driving I just granny shift at like 4k

I plan to get an MGW shifter in the future if that'll do anything to help
My experience is, when shifting from 2nd into 3rd, it doesn't naturally hit the 3rd gear slot. My shifter always tends to hit between 1st and 3rd naturally. Just take extra care to hit 3rd when you are shifting fast under power. No issues with 1st to 2nd, I'm guilty of slamming that shift too :)

I hear you, but if you do, it would be best if it happened during the warranty period. Once out of warranty and in the voice of Elmer Fudd, “be vewy careful.”

typically a good clutch and shifter help a lot

We’ve got some guys been running since 2011 and haven’t heard a transmission and we got some people that happens right away. It’s just one of those transmissions.

We can always help with the shifter or clutch and shifter for you

I’ll send a DM amd we can go over your goals. Your also welcome to call - 855-827-7223 - www.beefcakeracing.com

Sounds like you did what I did and said to heck with the warranty. I went all out in mods, including nitrous with just 472 miles on the odometer.

I'm more curious to find out if the Mexican-sourced MT-82 D4s (22' and later) are more realiable with high-HP output, compared to the Chinese-sourced MT-82s (21' and earlier). Since TREMEC is a Mexican company and all.

OP,
I'm in about the same boat as you are in terms of time of ownership with my '22 GT M6, also on E85. I installed a Steeda Tri-Ax Street short throw shifter along with their Shifter Base Bushing Bracket and have been very impressed with this combo. I also swapped out my shift knob for a solid steel ball from Shift Solutions which weighs about 500 grams. Very positive shift feel. I have nearly 2000 miles in this combo so far.

I still plan to upgrade the trans fluid but it's actually shifting great, as is, so I'm in no rush.

As others have said, try to shift with some care while still being direct. Shift speed will follow naturally. My 1-2 shifts at WOT and 7k rpm are smooth and will bark my 325s every time, even with a momentary, partial throttle lift. Beefing up the subframe-to-frame and subframe-to-diff interfaces with the typical mods has really helped to plant the rear end consistently.

Nice, just got promoted so my next mods in December will be the steeda irs braces and an mgw shifter. For your shift knob do you mean shift solutions? That's where mine is from and I also really like how it feels

holy cow reading your bio our mods are almost the exact same lol. Lowering springs, hpipe, bigger wheels/tires, E85, catchcan, etc just different brands. Even down to the spoiler, clutch spring, and carbon trap removal haha

Correct, Shift Solutions. Caught the typo and edited it but apparently not fast enough. 😁

Yeah, that's one thing that keeps me away from BMW's... Just like you said, 2018 M3 that I test drove had the exact same loosy shifter. I don't really understand why they are designed like that. Aren't BMWs supposed to be "precise driving machines"? And it's interesting to see that many car reviewers (Youtubers) describe the BMW transmission as precise and engaging... hmmm

You know you get used to it. I found it to be a good shifter, shifts with no issues and is easy to bang gears with it. That being said, I loved the feel of my 2020 MT82D4 shift feel. I have no issues banging gears including 3rd.
