I am thinking about installing hood struts, but I am glad that my prop-rod hood shuts perfectly from a 1 foot drop.

Will it still close that way after installing struts?

It'll probably be similar to how the trunk closes, have to put a little bit of ass into it.

That's how it was with my old car (which had hood struts...and cost half as much as this thing did, go fig) was, anyway.

Once you get the hood with in about a foot of closing the shocks no longer have enough resistance to stop the hood from closing. I usually just let the hood drop at that poing and it closes perfectly every time.

This was the answer I was hoping for. IOW, the leverage of the strut is gone once it becomes parallel with the hood/fender.

So .. yeah.

Thanks.

As others have already stated, with our QuickLIFT system installed the hood will close as normal from a 12inch drop.

I have the redline struts. After it gets to a certain point it's basically gravity closing the hood. So no worries there.

I've got the color-matched Redlines from JLT and love them.

As others have said, the struts take over after a certain point and open the hood, but do almost nothing at low heights. I can drop mine at about 6" and it shuts perfectly as it did without the struts.
