Hmmm BC Coilovers?!

So to adjust camber on the plates are you guys cutting the metal covering the access to the camber plates under the hood? Or are you guys actually unbolting the coils and dropping it to access the camber plates?

Would like to know this as well.

Ok so I installed the coilovers recently and noticed that I'm getting a chattering noise coming from the rear (sounds like it's passenger side but im not 100% sure). I hear it when going over speed bumps/bumpy roads. My friend tried adjusting the preload and that helped it a bit but it's still there. I do have BMR endlinks on instead of the included endlinks, but they appear to be tight. Anybody experience something similar?

Could be the top nut on the strut mount is not tight. Sometimes the rod just spins and the nut doesn't tighten and you could hear some clunking over bumps.

i heard people with the s197 cut the top metal area off to get an allen wrench in there... i may end up doing the same..

another note... i'm hearing a squeaking when i got over bumpy roads. does anyone know what it is? i don't think its a loose nut because wouldn't that make a more metallic clanking sound? if anyone knows please chime in!

Yeah - thats what I saw also, cutting the domes over the strut tower out. My concern has been structural rigidity with that change.

It ended up being the height adjustment collar. It loosened up. We tightened it using a punch and hammer and hopefully it holds this time. Does anyone have pictures of their BC wrenches? The ones they supplied me with dont seem to fit the height adjustment collar. Slips right off every time. That's why we had to tighten it ghetto style.

mine did that same crud.....tightened much better with the tool 2nd time....

Check the rings, possibly loose - also check to make sure you didn't loose a nut off of one of the bottom bolts on the front struts - i have now read a few people talking about this!

Mine creaked and squeaked but it was a loose ring on the coil.

Ohh and I wish someone could give us a definitive on the camber plate adjustment w/o removing the strut!

actually i had that problem with the loose nut on the bottom bolt. scary actually... but i will check the rings next time i take off the wheels.

it terms of structural rigidity by shaving out the hole on top of the strut, i heard many s197 did that and they are fine

Sorry, havent been getting updates about this thread. A couple options. Yes some guys were cutting and making the hole a little larger. What we were able to do was get allens that fit in there without modification but you're still limited to the amount of adjustment.... maybe 1.5 degree of changability without messing with the knuckle.

Do you have a picture, or more info about what allens will fit? I'm getting my car aligned soon and want to be ready.
