For the guys running past 8k rpm, is it possible to purchase reasonably and swap out our tachs for gt350 techometer which goes to 9k rpm? or perhaps there's an aftermarket one?

The instrument cluster comes in one piece assembly, on Ford parts site it was around $250 if i remember right! What you can do is, purchase an oem gt350 instrument cluster and use that. I don't know if anyone tried that before.

Maybe that way we could get digital speedo working on a GT? :D

You would! Since gt350 doesn't come in auto! Or you can buy a second rpm gauge with a shift light reminder and put it on the dash!

I know right! I wonder if our driving modes still would work and show up on the screen!
Someone needs to give it a try if the dash is only $250 gotta be worth a try by someone. I'd give it a whirl but factor in shipping to UK and taxes and well it becomes not just $250 any more.

Higher RPM counter and digital speedo I would happily pay $250 for.

Pretty sure the instrument clusters are VIN locked to each car. Even if someone purchased a brand new one from a dealer, it would need to be programmed. Maybe a push it could be done with dealer programming or some jazzy work by member that know how adjust the "as built data in the PCM.

Thats interesting. I ve seen people switching even pcm units without any programming! This was on a stock s197! I wonder if you only have to match the last 3 or 4 letters of the pcm code to bypass programming. I didn't know the vin, pcm, and instrument cluster are all related. Good info!

This is spot on, infact those display cluster normally need really deep coding as they are very locked down to prevent people clocking cars.

On the E46 M3's when doing a cluster swap between same models so same cluster you would need to solder your old eprom on or a new fresh one and then code it.

So good spot, this would not work, well it might work but you'd get codes flashing up due to it not being vin matched or same mileage.

As a car records its mileage on the cluster and on various other ECU's throughout the car.

I want this as well. They aren't vin locked because 2 friends of mine have used clusters on their cars now with the only issue being mileage.

Really? So the only problem is programming the current miles on the car to the 350 cluster or switching to the original cluster before selling the car! Did all the features work? Including mycolor, parking assist, memory seating, rear cross traffic alert?

Well they both have base cars so obviously only my color worked but everything seems fime.

So do they now have digital speedo?

Problem is if you put this in and it shows zero miles, what happens if you put your original clocks back in 5000 miles later, will they be 5000 miles too low or do they automatically to the correct mileage?

I haven't asked about the speedo. I do know that the mileage doesn't correct without a reprogram. The mileage stayed from what was on the cluster that is being installed.
