Hey guys I went out to do a datalog for my tuner. He wanted me to do a 3rd gear WOT to 7200rpm. All was well until I got to about 6200rpm. Then it was like someone had turned the key off. Maybe like hitting the rev limiter. That was my first thought but I was told the limiter had been set at 7750rpm. Next thought was I had thrown a belt but when I got to the off ramp I could hear it at idle. Pulled over and did a visual and saw nothing out of order. As I drove back home it didn’t seem to be running well but it did get me home. I did a second visual thinking maybe I had blown a hose off but once again all looked good. So I’m left with the tune or plugs. The tune has been great up until now so I’m wondering about plugs. Per the tuner I installed Brisk and set the gap at 30. If I have a gap issue which way do you go? Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you checked your oil pan? I'm assuming since you limped home you still had pressure, but I'd be concerned for metal filings in the bottom of the pan.

I checked all of the hoses and they are all still intact. I should try rephrase what happen. The engine didn't seize nor did it turn off. It just stopped accelerating. Not sure how else to explain it.

Did it make a popping sound? Any pending DTCs? The log should show what it did if the ECM just slammed the throttle shut on you due to over torque or some other issue it saw.

Sounds like you blew a charge pipe off.

Just because a tuner says they did something does not mean that they did. Someone may have intended to but things happen. I had issues with a your tuner and my rev limits and shift points when I was NA and it took 3-4 revisions to get correct. It sounds like either a charge pipe blew off but if the car will not rev past a certain rpm then it's an issue with the tune.

There are three different places for relimiters in these cars, so all three need to match.
But even stock they are like 6750 or so, sounds like you blew a tube off. (or partially off)

A tube connection blowing off anyplace after the MAF would cause a shutdown.

Anything before the MAF would just be a massive leak and it would be down on power.
