Another myth by the facebook tuning experts. I know for a fact timing starts to get pulled at 120f (48c) too.
How do you know? Everything I’ve read says it’s much higher - I’ve read that on this forum. I’m curious if this is a fact or not. Is this something that’s bout into the tune? If so, which tuner? I’m tuned by Lind but never thought to ask. At 150, I’m not beating on the car. But at 125, we’ll, fair game I think.

How much timing is pulled? Is it on a curve? So, at 120 X timing is pulled. At 130 Y timing pulled.

Thanks for the information!

Come on man, elaborate. That’s it? Was kind of hoping for something with a little more insight.

Who tuned it? How much is pulled? Etc etc.

I’m really looking for this info as I cross 120 sometimes.

Right, not super excited about the killer chiller or an ice tank. My plan is to run the pumps while while sitting between runs. If that isn't enough I was looking at adding the dual fans. Anyone running those?
If you create a trigger for the existing radiator fans, you don’t need to add extra weight/complexity/cost to your exisiting system.
I have a diagram for how I did it but there may be a simpler method. I’d have to dig it up if you’re interested.
I can’t see a problem with putting ice on top of the IC in this instance but you’d just need to exercise some caution.
As Mark said, phenolic spacers help to limit the transfer of heat from the heads up into the blower castings. Very handy from my observations and those of others using them.

What's to elaborate? IAT crossed a threshold, fuel trim gets leaned out (less air) -x timing gets pulled. Not saying it pulls 10 degrees, but it can.

The amount of timing pulled based on IAT is completely up to the tuner. The factory tune on my 2016 GT gradually starts pulling timing at 100 degrees. The whipple tune starts at 150.

Yup logic says the more aggressive the tune the faster you would want to pull timing

If running pumps between runs isn't enough I'll hit you up for that diagram, thanks for offering. I heard the dual fans were loud, so this would be a better option

I thought whipples didn’t have such problems? What did you run at least?

Whipple's don't have that much of a problem. You might see 130* IAT, and at the end of the run it would be down 20*+, turbos and centris do the opposite with their typical air to air systems. Other PD systems range from comparable to not even in the same league. Its typical PD heat soak, and really not that big of a deal at all.

I'm more than happy with the Whipple. Never any issues in traffic, back roads, or multiple hwy pulls. Car ran 10.28 @ 136mph. Full weight pp1, premium, 3/4 tank of gas, pump gas, and 7400 shift points.

Maybe in 110 degree weather in Arizona after shut down and restart. I have never seen iat2 levels even close to that with the engine running or when driving.

What tune, pulley, and tire are you running?
