The parts guy at my local Ford dealer (as well as my service adviser) told me that they would install headers for me but we would have to have it towed to a dyno immediately for a tune. The kicker is that he told me THEY WOULD STILL WARRANTY the car. I about shit myself and made him repeat it again. I then reminded him I had a Roush blower and he said it wouldn't work then because there were too many parties involved. Told me to call Roush and see what they say.
Talk to your dealer. See what they say. Mine has actually been pretty badass when it comes to mods. (as long as they install them!)
No, they won't void a warranty unless it proves to cause a failure. Catted or catless, it doesn't matter. If you have a visual inspection in your location, I'd hang onto the cats. If no visual inspection, do whatever you want.
Kooks, ARH are the two top brands. There's plenty others that are good as well.
Here they do void your warranty because you may still have cats, but they are not OEM cats and are not installed in the factory location.
I would ask around your area to see what the rules are. Also, if you do go that route, get a dyno tune. I know it is expensive and they can be inconvenient, but mail order tunes never hit the air/fuel right and always leave you fighting check engine lights.
Give us a call for Kooks or Stainlessworks. Generally they don't void the warranty on their own unless they cause the failure. That said, the tune normally will void the power train warranty. We offer Kooks with green cats that in many cases will not throw a CEL so you can get by with a tune.
