I'm hoping someone can help me figure out just where the transmission vent line is supposed to be mounted - on the firewall or engine.

In the Tales of the Rented Mule thread, I recently wrote about discovering that at high rpm on-track, the Mule's transmission vent is allowing fluid to escape and run down the driver's side of the firewall and underneath along the frame rail on that side. I'm guessing the problem was in large part user error, as the fluid level was a bit high when I pulled the fill plug (after I changed the fluid).

But, I also noticed that my transmission vent line isn't secured to anything and is sort of flopping around on it's side, rather than pointing the vent straight up. Near the vent "bulb," there is a stud capture sort of mounting tab, similar to the one in the pic below, so it's supposed to be one of the studs in the vicinity - just not sure which one.

Can anyone help by either describing or showing a pic of where the factory mount location is for that stud capture and how the bulb on the end of the vent line should be oriented - straight up, horizontal (not likely), or at an angle?

Here's a pic of how my vent is positioned currently.

Well - that was fast. In the pic above, you can see that the vent is laying almost horizontal and unattached to anything.

Lots of thanks and a virtual beer for HB!

Here's how it looks after I was able to get that clip onto the stud on the back of the driver's side head - much higher and more vertical. Hopefully this and the small amount of fluid I pulled out of the transmission will stop the fluid from venting out and running down under the car.
