I just noticed this scratch/scuff in my tint from inside of the car. I have no idea what the hell caused it and it 100% wasn't a passenger. Also when I roll the window down, there's a scratchy like abrasive noise only when the the scratched part passes up or down the window sill lining. The noise isn't crazy loud but it's definitely there if you listen for it. Has anyone ever experienced this or know what could have caused this? Is there something stuck or a bolt or something causing abrasion? Tint is pretty tough to just scratch easily or peel off like the picture below. I sure as hell do not want to take apart the door and cause random rattles if there is an easier solution or answer to this mystery.

Looks like nick from the seat belt.

Some folks fly the belt high when removing hitting the window tint. I have seen it often. The the tight wiping creates a noise going over that spot.

If the noise is only when the spot passes. It a nick in the tint.

On the whole cycle, something stuck in the wiper felt or a mechanism issue.

dude....I think you may be right... I can see how a passenger may have nicked the tint with the corner of the metal part where the buckle clips.. maybe as they were guiding it back when taking it off??? Probably didn't notice they did it. Seems like the only logical explanation given the angle, the location, and bluntness of the scrape and it not being a clean cut. bummer...

I had a customer accuse me of nicking their tint. Of course I didn't. They got out of the truck and their belt hit the window in that spot. I said, "look see what you did'..It's something we just don't notice. If you sit in the seat and remove the belt. You will see that spot in your arche.

I just sat in passenger seat and there's no way the belt could have done this. The scrape is way too low and close to the window sill. I inspected the belt buckle and nothing is sharp or rough enough to have scraped my tint clean off. The edges of the metal end of the buckle are also smooth. I even sat there scraping my window to see if the belt would catch the tint or scuff it by force and nothing. I think this one may be a long unsolved mystery... :(
