HELP wheel spacers not fitting

I just had my springs installed and planed on fitting 25/23 mm spacers front and rear. The install shop just called me and said the factory studs are sticking through and the spacers wouldn't fit. I have a base gt with performance pack wheels. It was my understanding that this was the smallest setup everyone ran without cutting the studs. Please reply I need to get back to the shop asap

Product picture or link? The adapters have their own studs so I'm unsure how they said it wouldn't fit.

They might stick out less than 1/8" but it shouldn't be a problem because the stock PP wheels have "voids" where the studs can go into without any problems. I believe you run into issues when running aftermarket wheels that do not have the voids on the back of the wheels. Either case, you can trim the end of the stud where it doesn't have threads with a cutting wheel and you should be good.

Did you tell the shop that the PP wheels have pockets in the back to accept that bit of stud showing past the spacer face? They likely don't know that.

So I went down to the shop and he showed me the pockets where the studs fit into the pp wheels and when he put the wheels on the studs fit but we're grinding against the inside of the wheel. So I just had him cut off the first rung of the rear studs and they should fit perfectly

Glad everything worked out! I've head of other people doing minor trimming when using the 23 mm spacers. I used the 25 mm spacers all the way around so I din't trim anything.

I have 25mm front and 23mm rear and had to cut the rear studs. The wheels fit without cutting but they were causing a shake at 70mph because the studs in the rear were barely too long. I have a PP premium

So the solution is to cut the lug screws at the hub?

Or if you're looking for "flush", get wheels that are 1" wider with about 12 mm smaller of a positive offset and forget about the spacers entirely.

Hell no .. .don't cut the full bolt off. Just a couple of mm's off the end.

FYI: This weekend I was about to cut the studs down but concluded maybe the best idea would be to measure and bore holes into the wheel for the studs to match up to. There appears to be enough material to bore a 5mm deep hole with a .75 metal bit.

I center punch the divit on each wheel then drilled a guide hole for bits to follow as I sized up to .75 dia. I think I went .125, .25, .5, .75 but I wasn't being especially mindful of the size. As long as I wasn't taking too much material out in one pass.

After than I ground the rough edge of the bore down to avoid cracking, mounted them and ran the wheel looking for wobble.

In hind site cutting the threads is probably easier but I figured I'd try this for the hell of it. Any chance of cracking should occur on the bridge between the lugs so I'll watch that closely and see if anything starts. Right now it looks like I've still got a lot of aluminum left.

Note: I'll be ditching these wheels end of the summer when I get Vossens so I don't really care too much about cutting them up. I'll also mention this process makes my 20 mm spacer a 15 mm spacer so there's slightly more tuck that before but at least the wheel is mounted off the hub.
