Hi All,
Been reading and trying to learn about the factory sound system but need some help. A lot of what I am reading is more high tech than I think I need or maybe just more than what I am used to. I've installed plenty of systems but this all older school - head units-RCAs-AMPS-Speaker stuff.

That being said, I've already added an amp and 12 sub in the trunk. Added the bass that was lacking from factory. happy with that portion but after a few months of use, I am hearing popping in cabin when volume is up 19+. under that level its really not to noticeable. BTW-its the 9 speaker set up, not the B&O. I started to look at replacement speakers but wanted to feedback as to what works and what doesn't. I figured a speaker replacement / upgrade would fix the noise I'm hearing. I'm not looking for a competition set up, just a middle of the road upgrade that would clean up the sound a bit more.

That being said, i was looking at the infinite reference series speakers, 6.5 for doors and rear deck, 3.5 for the mids and center and a set up tweeters. never used infinite speakers but i remember ppl raved about them back in the day, they still good?

I've used Apline type S speakers before and really liked the way they sounded. I've also used some higher end pioneer components that had good sound.

Is there anything that just works better for our cars?

TIA !

Just an FYI: I know the rear panel speakers in my B&O system (2020 GT) convertible are 2 Ohm.

Thanks for the info on that item. I think there inlays some of the issues with aftermarket speakers, we want them all to have the same resistance correct?

IMO pay a pro to install the amp, try and get auto calibrate DSP (like home systems), forscan the OE eq to level.

Speakers are all similar in respective price brackets it's just a matter of preference and won't know if like them until they break in which is probably past their return date.

The threads and posts on this subject are endless....
Thanks for the info, not sure what DSP is and I'll look into forscan tool.
I do not plan on adding an additional amp for the 9 speakers, just replacing with better built, more capable ones for a better sound. I'll keep reading the endless threads.

Thanks for the input!

DSP is the hard/software that calibrates the signal to speaker.....like a home hifi and many soundars just plug in the microphone and hit a button for auto calibration. Kicker Key 200.4 has the auto calibrate many don't though so it's a painstaking tune by ear and sophisticated software on laptop with mic a total pain
Thank you for the additional info on the DSP item. I dove in some more last night regarding the factory set up and have the forscan tool in my cart. I'll work on figuring that out tonight.

Question
1. If i unplug the center and tweets and replace the Door 3.5s and 6.5s, read deck 6.5s in the same ohm, would that keep everything playing nice for the factory wiring? I read a thread where the OP used some kicker speakers that were in stock range and apparently he was happy with results.

You can use a lot more power for the stock wiring.
I'm running my midbass drivers on 200 Watts each with the stock wiring.

Thanks Cathul.

as I been reading more, it appears i'm going to dive in more than just speakers.

I have already wired in an LC2Ipro for my subwoofer amp.

Since I already have power in the trunk for this, it made me think... why not just upgrade everything else for a superior sound upgrade. No need to worry about mixing impendence of speakers.

so that being on the table now, its time to re read threads to get a better understanding of what's needed. Most likely a multi channel amp for the 8 speakers being replaced.

what's the fan favorite for integrating the factory wire harness into it all?

The easiest way to integrate into the factory harness would be by using a Rockford Fosgate DSR1 and the appropriate idatalink harness HRN-AR-FO3 for the 9-speaker setup.
This gives you a capable starter DSP with 8 channel RCA output (including sub, so you can get rid of the LC2i) and open cable ends to integrate into the factory speaker wiring.
Be aware that this completely removes your stock amp from the system.

Thanks Cathul! that is the DSP i started to look into as its been mentioned in a few threads already.

I'm ok with removing the stock amp. started looking at multi channel amps to run the doors and deck speakers.

still researching it all but really appreciate the direction from everyone on here already. Thanks.

I also bought a 2021 with the 9 speaker system, and it sucks! I am nowhere close to being an audiophile, and can only say I am grossly disappointed with the sound of this system!

I am currently driving a rented Jeep Cherokee Latitude (low end model), and I was listening to Pandora in the Jeep. I got into my new GT/CS, and the same song continued playing, but sounded terrible. I just can't believe how bad my 9 speaker system sounds. It'll be off to the car audio specialist for me!

I don't want to hijack this thread, so if anyone has any ideas about simply getting better sound without re-financing my house, pm me...please!...lol.

Good luck to the OP, as you've already made some changes and you seem to know where you're heading!

I can’t agree more .I got a 2021 Mach 1 600a Hp car with the 9 speaker system suck.my scat pack had a beats system & my grand Cherokee has just the factory upgrade that can with the sunroof option, both system a way better then this car. I would of got the 700a but once u do that and order Recaro you lose all the All the seat functions that come with the 700a so you pay 2000 for just leather seats& still have to pay $1500 for the B&O system. Then Mach 1 would of be 65k 😲

Ps: It’s a track car and Fun car so I guess just have to live with 9 speaker system

Thanks for the replies peeps, the stock 9 speaker system got better when i added my sub, really filled in the bottom end...however after rocking it this way for a while i started to notice crackling and popping in the speakers...volumes over 19....after some further research as much as i dont mind tearing into it....im going to leave it for another day. The rockford dsp i was planning to use seems to have some werid feedback on things. That, along with the cost of multi channel amps...ill back burner it.

For now, i ended up going with crutchfiels recommendations, plug & play PB set up for doors n deck, Infiniti 3.5s for doors. I've read were this alone has made a difference that many were happy with....well see.

I got the 12 speaker in my car and its terrible. crackles anything above 15 or 16. Specially the 3.5s. im going to be ripping them out and replacing the speakers with OE series ones.

anybody found some 3.5s that match the OEM ohms?

If your volume is going above 15 on the B&O system, you need to convert to aftermarket amplifiers. At that point, the speaker impedences are moot. The factory amplifier is going to cause distortion.

I have 9 speaker. Did Kicker 200.4 and Hertz MP 163.5 Pro 2 tweeters 2 door 6.5 running active and 5 min auto DSP calibration sounds amazing after about 20 hrs break in.

The 6.5 go deep no need for sub. Did some door sound deadening nothing crazy
Thanks for the info. Still trying to decide how much I want to spend on speakers, etc. I've noticed it sounds a little better at higher volume, but still not how I'd like it to sound. I'll mention your suggestions when I go in to a local shop. Thanks!

It says my 21 Mustang is not compatible with that? Any ideas?
