Thank you @stang17

My takeaways are:

- FI on OEM cats is a risk
- FI on aftermarket cats is also a risk
- FI on GESI/high flow cats is the best catted option to reduce risk
- FI is best with no cats, for which there are options in terms of straight pipes/hollow cats

Are we saying that the stock cats can still fail with a supercharger on an otherwise stock car, running the included calibration? I see a lot of people on here with extra mods and custom tunes. Assuming the included tunes would be more conservative and easier on the cats? I am interested in either the Whipple Stage 1 or ProCharger HO kit with the included calibration.

Lots of cats failed on Roush cars running the Roush cal. Lots of Whipples as well. Not sure about procharger but I can’t imagine it being any better

I’m not convinced that gesi is better than oem boosted cats.
FWIW, got a couple of guys on Camaro6 forum pushing 1000-1100 WHP through a pair of the GESI Gen2 cats for a while now. They seem to be a nice improvement over the Gen1 versions.

OEM cats are way more robust than any aftermarket offerings.

I’ve always felt the same as you until these new Gen2 GESI units came out last year. Rated at 850 WHP *each* IIRC…very impressive. Guess we’ll see over the long haul obviously. šŸ‘

Also have to look at cat placement. The further away from the exhaust port the longer the cat will live.
