I am always looking to gain an edge and was thinking about a heavier than stock shifter
ball on my MGW shifter that has the original ball.
Is the original stock ball already heavy or can I get an aftermarket that is more so?

Finally, for those who have gone the heavy ball route, is it a worthwhile endeavor?

It’s like a trigger on a firearm, it’s whatever works best for you. Some like a heavy shift knob, some like light. Try them out and see what you prefer

Much prefer the Tall Teardrop Billetworkz on my MGW. It is indeed heavy, but gives a great feel.

My dad put a White Madness Garage knob on his shifter. He prefers the heavier knob vs the stock knob. It’s all personal preference as others have mentioned.

Down here in the sunbelt those weighted shift knobs will burn your hand when sitting outside
They will :) hence some "outer wear" LOL... :) I put on when parked in the summer :)

I like a heavy shift knob. The stock one isn’t bad as far as weight, but for my preference it wasn’t large enough. The one I have now is 510g and more fills out my hand.

A heavier knob takes less effort to throw a gear. I like it for that reason. You may have slightly less feel or feedback about what the transmission is doing.

Mine has a crinkled black finish. It still gets hot in the sun but nothing like a bare stainless one.

I personally prefer a weighted shift knob. It could be placebo but it makes me feel like I can shift faster since it just glides right into gear. I have 4 different weighted knobs with different weight but the one I'm currently using in the pic is 510 grams I believe.

Appreciate all the responses.
My question is does the weighted ball actually weigh more than my stock Bullitt cue ball, or is mine a heavy ball to begin with?

I've looked into the factory Bullit shift knob and it looks like it weighs 250 grams. I also looked into my shift knobs and realized I have the weight of my smaller knob that's not shown in the picture.

My small shift knob which looks more like a regular knob weighs 510 grams. The knob that I am currently using that's pictures weighs 700 grams. I live the weight and thickness of it because it just flows like butter with my shifts and I actually feel like I shift faster and smoother with it.

This is the way.

I don't think the heavy knob would be as good on the stock shifter.

The MGW+Billetworkz setup is sublime.

Darryl, did you do your pedals yourself, or buy them that way?
Also, seeing your interior "makes it OK" for me to replace my CF shift knob.

I bought them from SRP Racing, and they were custom-made to my liking. My main goal was to get better at heel-toe and add a little style. I have currently have two sets of pedals from them and I switch them up from time to time.

Here’s the website:

www.srpracing.com

Brian is the owner, and he’s awesome. He’ll make sure you get exactly what you want, and the turnaround time is pretty fast.
