The heater in my car acts really funny. Even with temp gauge at the half mark it will not put out hot air unless the engine is at about 3,000 RPM.
Does the cooling system need a flush and cleaning?

Check to make sure the system doesn’t have trapped air… that is most common issue with HVAC heating issues.

These cars usually self bleed, but a good way to speed that up is to put the front of the car on jackstands or ramps, turn the heater on max, run the car and repeatedly hold 2-3000rpm for 30 seconds, then idle for 30 seconds, repeat 4 or 5 times until the heat starts coming out hot at idle.

had exactly the same issue in my convertible recently, it turned out to be a coolant leak from the water pump gasket.
