That's not a bad idea, I get what I want under their terms niceYou have valid concerns, but...
I would say no for 1) security (you'd be surprised what even a snippet of code can do), 2) logical corruption of the PCM, 3) physical damage (ESD or otherwise).
Having said that, I'm sure you can have a discussion with the salesperson, get a statement/certification, possibly have a service tech do his scan while you watch.
