I'm sure you've all seen them. It is a mount for the camera that attaches to the standard seat head rest posts.

Anyone have an issue with them?

I have the MMR mount hooked up to the passenger seat headrest. No issues

none, its screwed in pretty good. The track where I run allows it, and they are pretty strict with loose items in the care. The mount itself is not going anywhere, and the camera is bolted in using Go pro bolts.

I wouldn't pay $70 for the MMR mount. You can build one very inexpensively using some 1" square aluminum pipe, u-bolts, clear tubing (to insulate noise) and black spray paint all from your local hardware store. Before I put the Recaro seats in my car, I made this mount which worked very well. I still have it and can ship it to you if you want - its of no use to me anymore.

Have you done anything similar or found a good way to mount one on the Recaro's? Like the custom work.

I've just been using the helmet mount adapter which works well. I couldn't find a good way to mount to the Recaro's.

I'm not crazy about having the end of a metal stick aimed in my direction, never mind that seat backs can bounce around some. Neither was an instructor who entered a similar discussion elsewhere where the bar was mounted to the driver seat and aimed toward the passenger side. IIRC, that particular device actually warned against its use when the passenger seat is occupied.

I also use a helmet mount when I'm not using the dash top mount. A small side benefit is that when you watch your video you'll get a somewhat better idea where you were (or weren't) looking at any given moment.

Hey Norm, that was my thiught too. I am in close contact with an instructor who has been in with me for 2 events and he stated he would have no problems with the setup. Worse case, i have it in the car, insteuctor says no and i take it iut and use my helmet mount.

Ken - hope you enjoy the seat mount! I agree with Norm, there is a valid safety concern if you have a passenger in the car. You could take a hack saw to the mount and cut it back considerably to lower the chances of any contact and it shouldn't make much of a difference in the footage. Stay safe and have fun.

I will probably play with both. I may end up using the helmet mount when I have and instructor and the other mount when I'm solo. Of course when I get a roll bar and seats, I'll make that switch, too.

One spot thats worked for me has been using the suction cup mount on the inside of the passenger side window. Even if it somehow fell off it would drop into the car. Only downfall is you have to keep the window up obviously.
