I posted on another thread asking what headers I should get for my 2022 mustang and I think i have decided to go with stainless power catted headers. I am just wondering if anyone that has run the stainless power headers knows if you need anything else besides the headers for install. I just wanna make sure I buy everything at the same time so there is no type of problem. Ive heard some people say you need 02 extenders is that something I would need? And what else would I need to make sure its a smooth install. Im also planning to get it installed from a shop. Thanks!

Be sure you order them with the correct connection pipes. Either factory or performance connect. I went ahead and ordered THESE at the same time.

I've had those same headers for close to a couple years now and I've been very happy with them.

Which connection pipes did you go with? I just have an aftermarket x pipe no catback system. Also did those eliminate the cel?

I had a steeda H pipe and did the factory connect. If it's 2.5", it's the factory connect. I never had one. I just saw lots of people recommend those to take care of that and I put them on from the get go. No issues.

Funny. An x-pipe has nothing to do with the rear O2’s. Do you have emissions testing? If so think twice before pulling the trigger on an expensive mod that provides very little gains.

I know an X pipe has nothing to do with the rear O2 sensor. I was asking for the option of connection pipe that he chose because i wasn’t sure which one I would need. I was asking about the cel cause of the part he recommended. And i do not have emission testing

The factory connect works with the Steeda H/X pipe. I had that setup for awhile. I just installed SP headers to my SW cat back and had to get the different H pipe and elbows for the performance connect. I went to Gesi 450 green cats. I ran the defoulers with the install, so will see if they are actually needed after some miles. Wont really know until you know. They are cheap, regardless. Trying to pass for readiness monitors for inspection. I purchased new ford header gaskets and hardware. Don't need to since can reuse the factory ones and the SP headers come with the hardware. Car is definitely louder across the board. Sounds mean AF. Is louder across the board. Cold starts my neighbors may hate me now. 0730 today and could feel the eyes on me lol. Can def feel the torque curve change to higher up in the rev range. The OEM headers had a deeper sound. FWIW

longtubes are going to actually add more torque down low than up high

for some reason the myth still exists that longtubes will lose low-end power

If I understand correctly, you also need a tune for headers. I don't think all tuners will remove the CEL.

The power boost in the mid RPMs hits harder, especially with boost. Probs why it feels that way. Instantly felt the difference on the on ramp. I'm not complaining. Just saying

I have no CEL with the header install. So far so good

Headers do not require a tune.

No known tuner will risk committing a federal crime by turning off the rear o2 sensors.

Thanks for the info! Did you get a tune to go with the headers?

I got an updated Wengerd tune. I was already tuned prior to the install.

I'm running these headers on my '21 GT. You will need two O2 extenders and I'd suggest getting a set of these. Ball up some aluminum foil and stuff it down in them, then poke a small hole through the aluminum foil. I've done this trick many times and it cures the P0420 & P0430 codes that typically come along with the LTH install.
